Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful Labor Day weekend. We’ve enjoyed daily activities to celebrate Homecoming and the week has absolutely flown by. The weather is wreaking havoc on our scheduled plans for today and tomorrow but our ASB has contingencies in place and we will adjust to provide a safe and fun homecoming for all.
Our governing board election voting begins next week and we are kicking it off with a candidates forum on Monday evening at 6:00 PM in the library. All seven of our candidates have confirmed they will be present and we hope you take advantage of the opportunity to hear them share their experiences and answer some general questions. This event is sponsored by our PTO and light refreshments will be served. The forum will be recorded and posted on our website for all to view.
The ballots will go out in the mail today so please be on the lookout for delivery on Saturday or Monday. The ballots can be returned in the mail or delivered in person to the front office. We must receive the ballot by 3:30 on Wednesday, September 28 to be included in the count. We have more candidates than we ever have before and are hoping the voter turnout is strong as well.
It is hard to believe that the first grading period is already upon us but grades for the quarter 1 progress reports close today. Please be on the lookout for the progress reports to be sent through email by the end of next week.
Have a great weekend and stay safe!

CEO/Principal

SCHS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Thank you to all the parents who joined us on Tuesday, 09/06/22, for our monthly meeting. It was exciting to welcome so many families to the table and hear some of the fresh ideas they had to share. We were even able to fill our very important Hospitality Chair position! Our Membership and Volunteer Chair positions are still vacant. If you would like to learn more about those positions or PTO in general, please email us at pto@schscougars.org. Our PTO meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. in the Staff Lounge, and everyone is welcome to participate!
Our PTO membership has steadily been growing. However, we still have work to do to raise funds to support and celebrate our students, staff and school community! We will be launching a Show Your Cougar Pride Membership Drive this month! Stay tuned for more information on how your membership can enter you into an opportunity to win one of three Cougar Pride packages. Don't delay and join today by visiting our website SCHS PTO, scanning the QR code below or stopping by our PTO table at tonight's Homecoming game. All funds raised by SCHS PTO are invested right back into students, staff and school community!
Class of 2023 Families - Are you interested in being part of the PTO Senior Committee that organizes the Senior Breakfast, provides refreshments for Senior Awards Night, hosts the Senior Baccalaureate and coordinates Grad Nite at Disneyland for our graduates. We also support the Class of 2023 Council and Advisor as needed. Send a message regarding your interest to schsptoclassof2023@gmail.com with your name, cell number, email and senior's name, and be on the look out for meet and greet info later this month. It's going to be an exciting year!

Free PSAT for Sophomores and Juniors
The PSAT will be administered at Steele Canyon this year for sophomores and juniors on Saturday, October 15th , 8:00 am – 11:30 pm in the Gym. Students will check-in at the gym by 7:30 am. The PSAT is a preliminary or practice test that will help prepare 4-year college-bound students for the SAT, which they can take for the first time in spring of their junior year. Though the SAT is not an admission requirement any longer for CSU/UC schools in California, students are encouraged to take the PSAT to prepare for the SAT if they plan to apply to private colleges, competitive colleges in California, and out-of-state colleges.
All interested sophomores and juniors must register for the PSAT on the TotalRegistration website at www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/053613 . The PSAT will be offered to all interested sophomores and juniors at no cost. The deadline for sophomores and juniors to register for the PSAT is Wednesday, September 14.
