Week Three - August 24- 29, 2020

Welcome to Week Three!

Hello Brahma Parents & Guardians,

As we enter our third week of Distance Learning our ability to be flexible and adjust continues to increase and challenge our instruction for all students. Last week we experienced spam email to our student email accounts, and the Aeries Phone Application was not working. Today, we began school with the news that Zoom was unavailable for some teachers! Our teachers had to quickly adjust and send new links to students via their Google Classroom. Thankfully, our District secured multiple ways to connect online and our staff created new online platforms using Google Meet to connect with students. In addition, I am pleased to report that before the end of the day, Zoom was fully restored. Special thanks to all of our teachers and IT Department who collaboratively resolved our technological issues.

We appreciate your patience and I will continue to communicate regularly and often to keep you up-to-date on Distance Learning.

Behavior Support System

To ensure a positive, productive and enjoyable learning experience for all participants, it is important that all students and parents/guardians are aware of these Distance Learning Levels of Support for Student Behavior.

August 10 - September 4

DBHS SCHOOL SCHEDULE

According to State Assembly Bill 77, Distance Learning is 240 instructional minutes per day.

We meet everyday for six (6) forty (40) minute class periods.

Need Tutoring? CSF Tutoring is Coming!

CSF Peer (Virtual) Tutoring begins on 8/31, from

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM Monday – Thursday.

All students who plan to attend tutoring will need to fill out a waiver and RSVP 24 hours in advance.

Back-To-School Night! Thursday, August 27, 2020

Back-To-School Night 2020 will be virtual through your child's Google Classroom. We will post a video at 6:50 PM on our website, www.dbhs.org welcoming parents back to school!

2020-2021 Class Officer Elections

Do you want to get involved? Would you like to be a student leader for DBHS? Consider running for a Class Officer position for the 2020-2021 school year. DBHS needs dynamic, creative and passionate student leaders for the class of 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021!

Applications for the United Student Body are available online now. Do you want to run for Executive Board? Would you like to apply to be a United Student Body Commissioner. DBHS ATHLETICS - UPDATES

PREPARATION FOR RETURN TO ATHLETICS

WVUSD is currently working on an action plan for student-athletes to return to campus in phases, following LA County/NFHS/CIF/State guidelines to ensure the safety of your child and family. Implementing this plan is based on our current COVID situation and LA County Health Department.

ATHLETICS CLEARANCE

In preparation for the possibility of athletics to commence, please ensure your child is athletically cleared. Student-athletes that are not cleared will not be able to participate in athletics. Specific athletic instruction can be found HERE.
