100 days smarter!!!
This week we celebrated the 100th Day of Kindergarten! Can you believe it has been 100 days?!? We loved seeing all the kids dressed up like old people and with their outfits with 100 things on it. SO CUTE!
Miss Hannah & Mrs. Kelley
Next week is National School Counselor Week and we want you to join us in celebrating these ladies! We have a wonderful team of our school counselor, Mrs. Hannah Lucas and our Behavior Interventionist, Mrs. Tabitha Kelley. We all want to say Thank You for being inspiring, for being encouraging, and for always supporting & believing in all of us. We appreciate all you do for all of us each and every day. You ladies are amazing!
As we roll into Quarter 3, so do more words!
High Frequency Words Practice
There are so many ways to learn sight words besides flash cards! Flash cards work great- but spice it up! When working on words... always stick with some they absolutely know and introduce a couple new words at a time. Try putting several flash cards on the floor... Tell them to hop to a word... Jump up and down on another... do 2 jumping jacks when they find another, etc.
Another fun thing is to hide the words around the house. Have them hunt for them and bring them back to you and tell you what word they have found.
Give them a fly swatter and place the words on the table. When they see the word you said- they slap it with the fly swatter.
Let them text the words to you, or grandma, or their favorite aunt. It's a fun way to let them use technology and be learning.
Have them write the words out in 1 color marker, then go over it in another color, and then a 3rd color. It's called Rainbow Writing- and they LOVE it!
Use sugar or shaving cream and let them write the words out.
The possibilities are endless. Make it interactive and fun for them!
PARTICIPATING IN THE READ-A-THON IS GREAT WAY TO WORK ON HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS!
The ELC is holding a Read-A-Thon to benefit the Lake County Public Library. The 2023 Read-A-Thon benefiting the Lake County Public Library is in full swing and runs through 2/20! If you would like your child to participate to benefit the library and win some really great trophies and possibly win a gift card (the top 8 get a gift card as well) There are trophies for earing anywhere from $1 to $100. Sponsors can donate a flat fee or pledge per book or even page read.
Join us for Kindergarten & Coffee next Friday
Please use Skyward for reporting all absences!
There is no need to call the office when calling your child off of school due to illness. Follow the simple steps below to have your child marked absent. If we have any questions, we will get ahold of you. Thanks so much!
