St. Mary's Lions Letter
November 7, 2023
Dear St. Mary’s Family,
All Saints' Day Mass proved to be beautiful one, with our children dressed and representing Saints who have been canonized by the Catholic Church. The students were able to answer questions asked by Fr. Jaison during Mass. Needless to say, it was a precious sight! November is also Black Catholic History Month. The tradition began in 1990 when the U.S. National Black Clergy Caucus, inspired by St. Martin de Porres and St. Augustine, whose feast days are in November, designated November for the celebration of the history and heritage of Black Catholics. While these two Saints may be among the more quickly recognizable names in Black Catholic History, there are many more Black Catholic role models whose contributions have enriched the faithfulness of the Universal Church. Please click the link below to learn more about six holy and devout American Black Catholics who are on their way to Sainthood. Let us join together to pray for their intercession and canonization to Sainthood!
