Thank you to the Student Council who put on a fantastic Thanksgiving event as well as decorated the school for our Halloween celebrations later this month. We have so much to be thankful for this year at STMY!

A Simple Prayer of Gratitude

Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined. You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me. You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions.

We will be providing 2 days for interviews with one day being fully in-person and the second being available for Virtual or Phone interviews. They will be as follows:

Tuesday November 1st: 3:30-7:30pm (IN PERSON)

Wednesday, November 2nd: 3:00-7:00pm (VIRTUAL or Phone Call)

Bookings will be made available to parents on October 25th through https://www.schoolinterviews.ca/

We will provide families with the proper link and code to sign up in future correspondence.

The upcoming parent council meeting has been moved from Oct. 19th to Oct. 26th @ 6:30pm. This meeting will feature two of our fabulous teachers, Mr. Manderson and Miss. Yaremcio will be available to chat about their teaching philosophy and courses. This meeting will also be a hybrid meeting with those who can attend in person at St. Mary's are very welcome in the building but also a virtual option for those who may not be able to make it in person. With the 2022/2023 school year well under way, it is now time to begin thinking about and planning your child’s graduation ceremony. As your St. Mary’s grad coordinators, we would like to have a meeting on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 pm in the school theatre to review the budget and events for Grad 2023. The main purpose of this meeting is to address any questions you have and to try to get you informed and involved in your child’s graduation this year.

For Remembrance Day, STMY is planning on celebrating those family members from our school community who have served our country. If you have had someone from the past or is currently serving in the military, Mr. Kobelsky would love for you to email him (markk@eics.ab.ca) a picture of them and a short paragraph explaining their service. He is planning on putting together a slideshow to honour those who have given their lives in service of the freedom of others.

Your student’s picture proofs were sent home on Thursday! Picture Orders are due by October 17. If you are not ordering online, please have all orders into the Office by October 17. Picture retakes will be taking place on November 22.

The Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA) is comprised of Alberta post-secondary institutions including colleges, universities, and technical institutes; the RCMP, and Canadian Forces.

ELAA was established to provide information about post-secondary opportunities available in Alberta through the coordinated activities of its members.

It also provides an excellent forum for the exchange of information and professional development.

Here are a few action shots of our Jr. High Volleyball Teams. Both teams are rebuilding and learning together. It has been a fantastic season so far. A huge thank you to Mr. Paulichuk and Mr. Kobelsky who have volunteered their time to make sure these teams are learning the skills they need to grow in the sport. The St. Mary's Senior Volleyball teams are hosting a BACON FUNDRAISER to help offset the costs associated with attending out of town volleyball tournaments. Please see the link to order!
