Morning Music Selection of the Week at HES!
As we move from spring towards summer, we can begin to see all of the beautiful flowers that are coming into bloom. Some composers have been inspired by flowers to write music.
The "Waltz of the Flowers" which was written in 1892, is a piece of orchestral music from the second act of The Nutcracker, a ballet composed by Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky told his friends he was working on a "fantastic" ballet called The Nutcracker: "It's awfully fun to write a march for tin soldiers, a waltz of the flowers, etc." The waltz is also the last number in his Nutcracker Suite. The "Waltz of the Flowers" is very popular. It has been arranged for lots of different instruments. Percy Grainger, the British composer, arranged the waltz for piano. Walt Disney Studios animated the waltz for the movie Fantasia.
I hope you enjoy the music this week.

"Sun Safety" message from Nurse Fiocca...
With the summer fast approaching, the I would like to send out a reminder on how to practice sun safety.
Please apply sunscreen ( 15 SPF or higher) to your children before school, especially if they will be attending a field trip or be outside for an extended period of time. It doesn’t have to be expensive, the Equate brand sold at Walmart, recently received a very high rating
Make sure your children wear hats, cover-up clothing and sunglasses when participating in outdoor activities
Avoid direct sun exposure when possible between 10 am and 4 pm. Seek shade!
Lead by example and practice good sun safety yourself
