Mar Vista Parent Newsletter
Week of March 1, 2021
Dear Families,
Thank you for remaining partners in education as we navigate this unprecedented time. We look forward to having our TK-1st grade students return to campus on April 5th followed by 2nd and 3rd grades on April 19th and 4th -6th grade students coming back in small cohorts starting the week of May 1. If you want to stay up to date about the return to in-person instruction, please read Dr. Rodriguez's weekly Q&A. As always, if you have questions for me, please don't hesitate to email or call us in the office at (831)761-6177.
We are currently working with Lifetouch on yearbook plans. It is likely that yearbooks will be able to be ordered this Spring, but will not be available for pick up until Fall. We are working on getting a firm timeline, which will be shared as soon as it is available. Thank you for your patience.
Have a great week!
Stephanie Monroe, Principal
Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update
Hi Families,
If your child does not have a district Chromebook, it will be imperative that they have one as we begin state testing. We do have extra Chromebooks in the office but I recommend you call in advance just to be sure.
ELPAC testing, a state test for English language learners, begins March 2nd, and the SBAC assessment will begin in mid-April.
Thank you to everyone that has sent in pictures for the spirit days! This is one way we are trying to maintain connection and community, so it is appreciated. This week is college attire day. Students can their favorite college gear and send them into me to be featured in the Mar Vista News!
Students will be continuing Unit 5 in our language arts curriculum, Benchmark, this week.

They purchased Zearn for us and I have to say it has been a HUGE support for my math program. I also appreciate the $400 classroom funds because I have been purchasing chapter book sets for my class. I also really appreciate Ashley continuing on being treasurer with her full time job. -Miss Risa

As a reminder, PVUSD now has two afternoon meal pick up locations to support those families who are not able to access meals during earlier meal pick up times. Please note that families can pick up meals for their children for the seven days of the week on the one pick up day. Also, Second Harvest Food Bank distributes groceries during most weeks during these afternoon meal pick up times.
