Office Update...
Please make sure we have a working phone number and up-to-date address on file in case we need to get a hold of you if your child is ill or for any other reason.
When you arrive at the school to pick up your child, please call our office phone at 260-347-2548 and let us know you are here. We will walk your child out to you!
Please send in a note if your child needs to leave during the day or is leaving early for an appointment. We also need a note if your child is going to be a car rider when they normally aren’t.
We would like to remind you that if your child's transportation needs changed during the day, please notify the school office at 260-347-2548 by 1:45 pm. This will help us get the proper notification to your child before the end of the school day. Thank you for your help with this!
Fundraiser for Our School
Our school fundraiser ends on Sept. 9, 2020. Please send order forms in by Sept. 9, 2020. Money does not have to be collected until products are delivered. Thank you!
Morning/Afternoon Car Line Procedures
Students should not arrive to school prior to 7:50 a.m. on regular school days. Adult supervision begins at 7:50 a.m.
On collaboration days, students should not arrive prior to 8:35 a.m. since adult supervision begins at 8:35 a.m.
Please do not drop your child off and leave before the scheduled times listed above. Thank you for your support with this.
Here are a couple reminders that will help our car rider line moving, as well as safe for everyone:
1- Please watch for our staff to motion you to move up or to the front end of the sidewalk.
Once all cars have pulled up, we will dismiss students with a thumbs up!
2- Please do not get out of your car. Our staff will be happy to help with the car door and assist your child.
3 - For PM pick up, please make sure your car tag number is visible for our staff to see so that we can call your child to the front for pick up.
Thank you for your your patience as we continue to monitor and review our current drop off and pick up procedures.
PBIS Rewards and ROAR Store
Our students can earn rewards throughout the day by meeting our behavior expectations. These rewards are in the form of electronic points. They can redeem these points for privileges, tangible items, access to events, and other similar things. Your child will shop at our new and improved online ROAR Store every other week. Our expectation is that we will see overall behavior improve throughout the school and that the number of referrals we have will decrease.
PBIS Rewards has a Parent App that will give you some insight into how your child is doing with respect to our PBIS program. The Parent App will run on most smart devices, including smartphones and tablets. You can find it in the iPhone/iPad App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon App Store. Just search for "PBIS Rewards Parent."
Once you have installed the app, you can scan the QR Code provided by your child's teacher. You will have to confirm your relationship to STUDENT NAME by certifying that you are a parent or guardian. Once you have done this you will be able to see STUDENT NAME's progress with PBIS Rewards.
We encourage you to talk with your student about what they must do to be successful with PBIS Rewards and to encourage them when you see them being successful.
Just a Reminder...
Collaboration Mondays will be 45 minutes long this school year. This is valuable for our teachers to work together to better meet the needs of our students. During this time, teachers engage in learning about new practices and adjusting lessons to ensure students grow. Buses will pick up your child 45 minutes later on Mondays during the 2020-2021 year.
Wayne Center Parent Advisory Committee
PAC is a group of Wayne Center parents who work throughout the year to provide for the students and staff of our school. We would love to do more for our students and staff. New ideas and extra hands are needed to make our school the best it can be for our children and the staff!
Our next meeting is on September 2nd at 6:30 pm at the Kendallville Library - Room 3.
We would love to see you there!
We also have a Wings Etc. Fundraiser for our school night scheduled for Sept. 9th from 5-8 pm.
We also have a Wayne Center weekend at Roberts Farms scheduled on Sept 18, 19, and 20th. Please make sure that you tell the admissions gate that you are with Wayne Center School for our school to get credit.
Thank you!!! For more information or questions please call the school!

Mrs. Soberalski - Guidance Counselor
Welcome back, Tigers! We are excited to kick off another awesome school year and have lots of great things in store for Wayne Center! As the school counselor, I am here to enhance your child's learning experience in any way I can. In addition to classroom lessons for all children, I am available to help children individually or in small groups. I am also available to consult with parents and teachers to ensure the success for all students.
Children often face difficulties which may prevent them from working well in school. These could include school adjustment, upsetting events such as the death of a loved one, parental job loss, parental divorce, or problems developing friendships with other children. Having supportive people at school, as well as at home, can be very important. Please let me know if there is a situation in which I can be of help. I am here to guide students in their path to academic, social and emotional success.

Drill Reminder
The safety and welfare of our students and staff are a priority at Wayne Center School. We practice safety drills throughout the year to help our students know what to do in an emergency.
We work closely with local authorities to correctly implement these safety procedures. The goals of our training drills are to improve our ability to protect students and staff. These practice drills (fire, tornado, lockdown, and evacuations) allow us to evaluate our emergency operation plans and improve our response skills.
In order to protect your child, students will only be released to parents and/or other adults listed on our emergency information sheet in case of an actual emergency.
Home & School Connection Pointer
Asking “How was school today?” might not get your very far.
Instead ask questions like these for a better picture of your child’s day:
· “What’s the coolest thing that happened today? What wasn’t so cool?”
· “Pretend you’re the teacher. How would you describe the day?”
· “What made you laugh?”
· “What was the most creative thing you did?”
· “How were you kind or helpful today? Was anyone kind or helpful to you?”
