Kendallvue Community Newsletter
October 1 - 8, 2023
All Students are Curious, Creative, and Confident Learners!
Thank You!
Dear Kendallvue Families,
Thank you to everyone who donated time, money, and energy to our Ninja Nation Fall Fundraiser. As of this afternoon, we have raised just over $32,000! There is still time to donate. You can checkout the Givebacks page to make a donation before midnight tonight!
Like I said in my Friday evening letter, I am proud of the efforts we all made in support of our kids. Organizing events like this are always a challenge. As we come together in establishing our growing community I want to elevate two things: First, assuming positive intentions. Our PTA, Watch DOGS, and other volunteers worked tirelessly to put together this event. Second, extending grace as we learn who we are in this new journey as a school community. I was so happy to see all the wonderful smiles as kids ran through all three obstacle courses!
We are now in October. This is a busy month with Parent/Teacher Conferences, Fall Break, and Halloween. I love this time of year. However, it is a little annoying that Home Depot has had Halloween decorations up for nearly a month! Anyway, this week we will start on getting the garden ready for winter. SAC and PTA will meet on Wednesday evening in the library. Teacher should be sending out sign ups for Parent/Teacher Conferences. Thank you again for your continued support of our school!
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Bruce Lindsey
Principal

October Count
It’s official – October Count Day this year is Monday, October 2nd. THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTION YOU CAN TAKE TO SUPPORT SCHOOL FUNDING IS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR STUDENT ATTENDS SCHOOL ON MONDAY OCTOBER 2nd!! Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to be sure your student engages in school tomorrow.

SEL Updates
- We are partnering with Changing Perspectives this year to support our students' Social Emotional learning. Social Emotional learning doesn’t stop once students leave our building. This year we will be focusing on how you can support at home with the Coyote Coping Kit newsletter and two family engagement nights presented by Changing Perspectives.
- Our first engagement night will be virtual on October 5th from 6-7pm. The topic is unpacking social emotional learning. Join us to gather more of an understanding of what social emotional learning is. (Zoom link)

“It’s Going to be Okay…I Promise”: The Dilemma of Parenting Neurodivergent Kids in a World Beyond Our Certainty and Control
- It’s important to us as parents to ensure that our children feel safe and secure. However, the past three years have constantly reminded us that we cannot guarantee safety or control outcomes. This is a challenge for all human beings, but particularly so for those who experience the myriad sensitivities and intensities of neurodivergence.
- Join Jenny Hecht to explore how we can free ourselves from the myths of certainty and control in a way that will benefit us and our children, and enable us to better navigate life’s uncertainties.
