GRAD CLAS NOTES
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Graduate Newsletter
Our Community of Scholars
I continue to be impressed with the quality of scholarship being produced by graduate students and faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. What makes these accomplishments even more special is knowing that our top Villanova scholars also have a deep passion for teaching. In fact, our faculty are just as excited to see students succeed as they are being recognized for their own accomplishments. I am so proud and inspired to see students and faculty working side-by-side on many significant research projects.
If the quality of work being done in our College is no surprise, then perhaps the recent recognition our faculty have received by scholarly journals and national and international media may be. Here are just a few recent examples:
- Our prolific writer and Theology Professor Massimo Faggioli published an article about liturgical polarization in Commonweal and LaCroix International.
- History Associate Professor Catherine Kerrison's new book Jefferson's Daughters has received glowing reviews from a number of media outlets including The New York Times and USA Today. Dr. Kerrison’s research for her book involved the work of a number of committed graduate students.
- Biology Professor Michael Russell published a paper in PLOS One about sea urchin bioerosion research conducted with graduate and undergraduate students.
- Education Associate Professor Jerusha Conner was quoted in The Christian Science Monitor about teen activists pushing for changes to gun laws.
And that is just scratching the surface. Twitter is a great way to keep up with the most up-to-date research, scholarship and media mentions coming out of the College. Follow us @VUGradStudies.
