Literacy Note:
Did you know reading helps your brain develop? Reading allows new circuits and connections to be created. As reading skills develop, the connections in the brain become more complex. Try implementing a nightly reading routine to encourage your child to read or listen to a story. Make reading a relaxing activity and enjoy snuggling up with a good book this chilly fall season!
Free program for special needs children and their families offered by Turtle Bay Exploration Park.
This is a big literacy event in our county on January 8th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. That evening there will be an opportunity for parents and community members to come and hear from a distinguished speaker and literacy advocate, Kareem Weaver.
THU., NOV 30 @ 9:00 AM PDT
Andy Harkness is coming to Storyvoice for a growling good read-aloud of his book, Wolfboy. Wolfboy is hungry! He’s drooly and growly and fussy! As he stomps through the forest looking for rabbits, he grows hungrier and growlier by the minute. What will happen if Wolfboy can’t find those rabbits? And uh, oh! What will happen if he does? Students will get to meet Andy, ask questions, and join the show as guest readers!
FRI., DEC 1 @ 8:30 AM PST
Sandra Markle is coming to Storyvoice for a cool read-aloud of her picture book, Could You Ever Waddle with Penguins!? Dive in and learn all about Adélie penguins! From what they eat, to where they live, to how they interact with one another, this innovative book places kids right into the action as they learn all about these amazing creatures. Students will get to meet Sandra, ask questions, and even waddle (and read!) along live.
FRI., DEC 1 @ 10:00 AM PDT
The old lady is at it again, and this time she’s swallowing a spoon…while humming a holiday tune! You won’t believe why she also swallows a bowl, some flour, a pan, and more! What is she up to? Lucille Colandro is going to tell us when she comes to Storyvoice for a read-aloud of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Spoon! Students will get to meet Lucille, ask questions, and join the show as guest readers! It's going to be a treat!
