K-12 Information
ACS Website: The new Avon Central School District website went live last Friday at 3:00 PM. Along with the website, we invite you to download the new Avon app. Simply go to your app store and search for "Avon Central." The app is free and we believe you will find it extremely useful." Over the course of the next few weeks, we will likely bump into a few challenges, but we are committed to addressing any issue as soon as we can. Please contact Jim Ellis if you have any challenges with the website or app. JimEllis@avoncsd.org
Remote Monitoring of School-Owned Devices: Please be sure to speak with your child about how the ACS Technology Department monitors the use of devices at all times. When utilizing school devices from home, the district expects students to follow the ACS Code of Conduct regarding their interactions with others and the online sites they decide to visit. The software that ACS uses tracks each and every mouse click, and provides screenshots of a student’s activity. When a student visits an unsavory site, the district is immediately notified. By sharing this information with you and your child/children in advance, we are hopeful that it will prevent a code of conduct violation from occurring.
COVID-19 Prevention and Management: Please keep your child at home if he/she is sick (cough, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, runny nose, stomach ache, sore throat, headache, etc.) If your child comes to school sick and the illness is reported to the health office either by your child or a staff member, your child will be evaluated by the school nurse and will need to be evaluated by their primary care physician as well.
Please note that it is required that all visitors wear a mask on school grounds. Thank you!
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions. Please feel free to call or email us:

- No Work Over February Break: We will not be assigning students new work over the break. However, we do encourage students to complete any back assignments they have. We hope that you enjoy time with your family!
Commitment to Mental Health
There are times during your child's school career that you may find you or your child need extra support either academically, socially, or emotionally. Each student has individual needs that we can help accommodate. We may be able to meet these needs at school or, in some situations, help families and students connect with community resources. As a mental health team, we work hard to provide a supportive environment for all of our students, families, and staff.
Our current team includes school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers. While our titles are different some of the support we are able to provide can be similar. All members of the mental health team: participate as part of various multidisciplinary teams to plan, implement interventions, consult on individual student supports, provide individual and/or group counseling, deliver classroom lessons related to social skills or community understanding, create and implement in-service and staff training, and serve on district committees.
Some things that differentiate our work are as follows:
School psychologists are able to provide individualized assessments of children when regular education interventions have been unsuccessful in helping a student make academic progress.
School social workers are able to act as family liaisons, as well as connect families with community-based services and supports.
School counselors support students academic, career development, and social/emotional needs in group or individual settings in preparation for life after high school.
Avon’s school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers are all here to help! Please reach out to the mental health support available in your child's building at any time.
However, if you find yourself needing help during a time when school is not in session (over breaks, after hours, or on weekends) there are mental health resources and crisis lines available (please refer to the image/attachment below).
