Our students had a lot of exciting and engaging experiences this week. The kindergarteners had a guest reader, former RES paraprofessional Karen Chambers, read to all of their classes this week. THANK YOU Mrs. Chambers! The PTO ran their first Trunk or Treat here in the RES parking lot. It was a fantastic time. THANKS PTO! In addition, the First R Readers read to all of our kindergarten and first grade classes. The group also provided each kindergarten classroom with a copy of Knight Owl, by Christopher Denise, and each first grade classroom with a copy of I'm Not Scared, You're Scared!, by Seth Meyers.THANKS FIRST R READERS!
RES held their first School Council Meeting this week. The council is made up of the principals, a parent, a teacher, a community member, a school committee member, and a high school student. This group is committed to improving our schools and helping to shape the school's policies and procedures.
Our annual Halloween parade was enjoyed by ALL staff and students. It was great to get all of our PreK and kindergarten students out as our audience and to have all of our 1st through 5th graders walking together for the first time. We visited Oceanside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center to greet their staff and residents. THANK YOU to Oceanside, the Rockport Police Department, and the Rockport Fire Department!!! We had a wonderful afternoon.
We're looking forward to a great November!

TRAFFIC SAFETY REQUEST
In order to alleviate congestion and assure a safe environment for students and families, we are asking drivers to take caution and be aware of their speed and attention to pedestrians, most especially during the busy times of drop-off and pick-up. We understand this can be a hectic time, and we ask that drivers proceed with caution and care for the safety of all involved. The Rockport Police Department will be present to help monitor the flow of traffic. We appreciate your cooperation and patience in making this daily duty a little more pleasant for all involved.

SCHOOL MENUS
PTO
The sign up is ready for the PTO Holiday Fair on November 19th. If you have a High Schooler, this is a great opportunity for community service hours. We especially need youthful help setting up the tables on the 19th, right after school, and taking the tables down when the fair is over at 2:30 on the 19th.
As well as the usual help we need setting up the day before the fair and all the great help you give during the fair, we are looking for someone to spearhead the creation of the gingerbread houses. We can provide all the details on this task if you are interested. If we can't find anyone, then I'm afraid this will be missing from the fair this year. Thanks!
