Current Events & Their Impact on Children
Certainly, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is an unprecedented turn of events. Many students likely have fears and concerns as they seek to better understand what is going on across the Atlantic.
As the Ukraine crisis has unfolded, we are sharing a helpful article. If these conversations come up in the classroom setting, staff have been asked to not ignore the discussion; however, they have been asked to hear students out and validate their feelings.
This is certainly something on students' minds, as well as conversations that are happening in many of your homes.
This is a tough topic and we all have our own concerns. As children seek answers, we are being mindful of the heightened state of awareness and concern that may exist in our classrooms. If you have any concerns about your child and your child's feelings related to these current events, please reach out to your child's teacher and our School Counselor, Mr. Erik Swanson.

School Security Drill
This week students and staff successfully completed a "Lockdown Drill". The simulation addressed what to do if there was an intruder in the building. All students and staff are to be commended for their response and careful attention to announcements and directions from faculty and staff.

Roxbury's Portrait of a Graduate
According to Dr. Radulic, our Superintendent of Schools and as included on www.roxbury.org: “This design will serve as a symbol for the six themes we value and hope will prepare our students of today for tomorrow. Our graduates will demonstrate their capacity to be thinkers and inquirers, to be adaptable and resilient, to have the integrity, passion, confidence, and work ethic of strong leadership, to incorporate global and social awareness, to communicate civilly and embrace diversity as characteristics of strong citizenship, to have the self-awareness, empathy, interpersonal skills of one with high emotional intelligence, and to have the practical skills, open-mindedness, goal setting capabilities, resourcefulness, and communication of one with solid life-ready skills.”
To provide our educational community with a student friendly resource to further develop awareness and understanding of the Portrait of a Graduate Themes, I (Mrs. Lynch, Principal) have created an interactive BitMoji Classroom focused on Portrait of a Graduate. I invite you to explore the resource and enjoy talking with your child about the themes that we value as a district and in turn the themes that will help prepare them to take on their goals and dreams!

Kindergarten Registration is Now OPEN!
Roxbury Township Public Schools, a K-12 school district preparing the children of today for tomorrow, has set its in-person Kindergarten registration dates for the 2022/2023 school year. Children must be five years old on or before October 1, 2022 to participate. Click here for more information regarding Roxbury's Entrance Age Policy (P5112). If there are any questions regarding the policy or procedure, please reach out to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Chuck Seipp at cseipp@roxbury.org or by calling 973-584-6799.
Roxbury Township Public Schools offers a full-day kindergarten program designed to develop knowledge and skills in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive areas. Our goal is to help children develop skills and strategies that will help them learn and establish a foundation for lifelong success in education. The program allows more time for students to address curriculum in depth and allows teachers to provide additional activities in learning.
To register for Kindergarten, parents will need to complete the online pre-registration process and begin uploading the required documents for Kindergarten. For a complete list of what to do and what to bring, visit www.roxbury.org/KindergartenRegistration.
Online registration for Kindergarten is now open. Parents are required to register their child at their home school. If the home school is unknown, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-584-6756 and based on your address, they can let you know what school your child should be attending.
