A Message From The Principal
Dear Christ the King School Families,
Happy December!! I hope everyone enjoyed their few days of vacation, celebrating Thanksgiving with families and just relaxing. It’s hard to believe the last month of the year is upon us, and with that realization, Christmas will arrive all too soon. We have so many activities planned for this month, and I am so excited to be a part of each one.
Just a quick reminder: in order to fully view this newsletter, you may need to copy and paste this link into your browser. Please let us know if you are unable to view all parts of this newsletter.
On Wednesday morning, Father offered Holy Mass with the 2nd Grade Class hosting (great job with the readings and the gifts!). Father spoke about preparing for Christmas as we await the arrival of our Savior on Christmas Day. Next week, the 3rd grade class will be hosting the Holy Mass on Wednesday.
On Friday, the Christ the King Middle School students, along with students from Mater Christi, and St. Francis Xavier, attended an event at the UVM Catholic Center that included Paul J. Kim, a renowned speaker. Pizza was provided, and students enjoyed a bit of fellowship. Mr. Kim spoke on “Your Life Makes A Difference,” and his website provides more information: https://www.pjkmusic.com/topics/
This weekend, the first Advent Wreath Making activity will take place on Sunday, at Christ the King School, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please see the flyer for details. I cannot wait to participate in this activity.
The annual Christmas Concert, organized and orchestrated by Mr. Verdirame (yay!!) will take place on Thursday, December 14, at 5:30 pm. Students need to arrive at the school no earlier than 5:15 pm, and they will go directly to their homerooms. After individual grade performances, students will be sitting on the stage for the remainder of the concert, with the exception of Early Education students (PreSchool and Pre-K). If anyone is willing to help with the setting up of chairs or decorating the stage, please let Mr. V. know! Attire - Christmas Best!! (no jeans or sweatshirts, please).
The Kids Only Christmas Shop will be occurring on Monday, December 18th, all day. Volunteers will be notified via email.
Additionally, on the 18th, the Lost & Found items will be displayed on tables, after school, for anyone to peruse and locate a lost item.
Finally, after much discussion and very careful thought, we have decided to make an addendum to the Christ the King Cell Phone Policy. We have added the following: Smart watches of any make or brand, are not allowed to be used on campus during the school day unless they are used after school to contact a parent and/or arrange for pick-up. If a smart watch is worn to school, the student will be asked to remove the watch and place it in their backpack for the remainder of the day. Students found to be out of compliance with this policy will have the watch taken away and held in the Principal’s Office for parent pick-up. Please email, call, or stop by with any questions or concerns.
As the weather continues to change with the seasons, CKS asks all students to dress accordingly. Please remember to bring indoor shoes to wear if boots are worn to school, and ski pants are a necessity for outdoor play. Additionally, uniform “checks” will be done regularly to ensure students are dressed accordingly.
Just a reminder that any delays or closings will be sent through email, text blast, and the WCAX news platforms.
Please enjoy the many pictures (thanks to Mr. Hughes), and again, please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or issues.
In Christ,
Kelley Alderman

CKS ADMISSIONS OPEN HOUSE DECEMBER 15TH
Please help spread the word that Christ the King School will host a special holiday Open House for prospective families on Friday, December 15th at 9:00 AM. This is a magical time of year and we invite families to come meet our educators, explore our campus, feel the joy of Christmas, and get a picture of what it is like to be part of the CKS family. For those with a 2, 3, or 4 year old (and especially those looking for a Kindergarten placement for next year) now is the time to explore if a school based program is the right fit for their family. Christ the King School serves learners from 3 years old through 8th grade. RSVP online at www.cksvt.org/open-house or email admissions@cksvt.org with any questions.
RICE PROSPECTIVE PARENT LUNCH - 12/13

SUBSTITUTES - WE NEED THEM!
CKS needs people to help with afterschool and be substitute teachers. Anyone with a high school diploma (or higher) is encouraged to apply! Reach out to Mrs. Williams for more information: cksoffice@cksvt.org
MOTHERS' FAITH LIGHT AND JOY JOURNEY GROUP
Are you a mom seeking a joyful, welcoming, and light-hearted space to connect with others while deepening your spiritual journey towards God?
Experience a stimulating blend of spirituality and connection in our warm and welcoming online group. We meet just once a month, making it easy to fit into your busy schedule. We are a dozen mothers from local Catholic schools, mainly from CKS. We meet and read, share and discuss how episodes of the life of Jesus continue to resonate in our busy modern lives, allowing us to meet God’s Love. Guided by the wise and loving Sister Paul Mary, a wonderful muffin making Franciscan sister working at the UVM Catholic center -who sometimes fills in as our mother: We pray. We laugh. We cry. We talk. We bond. Wherever you are on your Faith journey, no comment or question is too silly for us to explore.
We also get our families together for a potluck (in person) every 6 weeks during the school year to share our enthusiasm with our other family members -and make the winter warmer. Occasionally we meet for coffee or drinks. Most of us are from out-of-state and have discovered here a family away from home. We would love to expand our family and welcome you if you feel called to join.
Contact Victoria Jones (mother of Johanna 6th grade, Lily 3rd grade and Ella-Maria Kindergarten) at vicbrassart@gmail.com or 802-793-4361 for more information
When We Meet: Online, one evening a month (usually half of us), usually at 8pm.
Why Join Us?
Strengthen your faith and sense of purpose.
Forge lasting friendships with fellow moms.
Nurture your spiritual journey in a welcoming space.
Share your intentions through the power of prayer.
8TH GRADE CAN AND BOTTLE DRIVE
