OLIS Staff Member Named National Data Mentor

During the recent State Data Coordinators Annual Meeting in Denver, CO, hosted by the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), 56 state data coordinators (SDCs) from across the United States and territories held an election for SDC Mentors. Summer Reading Program Grant Applications open February 20

The annual non-competitive Summer Reading Program Grant will open for applications on Tuesday, February 20th. Libraries hosting summer reading programs (regardless of theme used) can apply for up to $600 for youth activities and an additional $300 for adult activities. Each library's Summer Reading Contact will receive the application form directly on Feb 20th. Applications will be due back by March 18.

OLIS staff will hold a webinar for the grant program on Wednesday, February 14. Register to attend live or receive the recording.

Follow Library Related Bills through RI State Legislature with OLIS

Did you know you can read and follow library related bills right on the OLIS website? In early February, Rep. Jennifer Stewart introduced the Freedom to Read Act to the House of Representatives after working with the RILA Legislative Action Committee, and the committee has announced they expect the bill to be introduced to the Senate as well. Visit our legislative action page to learn more!

AskRI will be conducting a survey this spring to better understand how AskRI resources are used. The survey will open by the end of February and will be posted on the OLIS website in addition to other locations. Be on the lookout for more information and consider providing your feedback.

2024 Braille Calendars from the National Library Service

Pocket braille calendars for 2024 have been shipped as scheduled.

However, the 2024 wall calendars required correction prior to final production and distribution. Those who subscribe to the wall calendar are now scheduled to receive them within the first part of February.
