Family Update - 02/28/23

Dear Scott Families,

As we transition from February to March, there are several exciting events taking place at Scott DL that we don't want you to miss out on! First, our Digital Spirit Wear Store has opened with fresh new designs. Additionally, on Wednesday, we have a Coding and Robotics Night at Topeka High, and on Thursday, we have a PTO fundraiser at QDOBA, . These engaging activities and fundraisers are fantastic opportunities to support our school and community.

We hope that you will take part in these events and enjoy everything that our school has to offer. Wishing you all a wonderful week, and don't forget to enjoy the beautiful weather!

As February comes to a close, we wanted to share the gorgeous bulletin boards that have been gracing our halls. These boards are designed and constructed by our wonderful paraprofessionals! Great job everyone!

Our lunch ladies have been impressing judges left and right with their delicious and beautiful meals! They recently won 1st Place in January, 3rd Place in February, and 1st Place for their amazing holiday meal in December. We're so lucky to have such talented and dedicated staff members making our meals every day. Congratulations to our lunch ladies on their well-deserved awards!

Get fired up! The 2nd graders at Scott DL had a blast last week when a local firefighter visited their class. The students were thrilled to meet a real-life hero and learn all about fire safety. From smoke detectors to creating fire safety plans, the firefighter shared valuable tips to keep the students and their families safe.

The students eagerly asked questions and listened to exciting stories about what it's like to be a firefighter. It was an awesome opportunity to learn and connect with the brave men and women who keep our community safe. Way to go, 2nd graders!

We are SO excited about this event It will be a joint effort, hosted by Topeka High, Landon, TCALC, and Scott Dual Language!

It will take place THIS WEDNESDAY at Topeka High School, from 5:30-7:00 pm.

Please join us in supporting the Scott DL Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) by dining at QDOBA, THIS THURSDAY, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Bring your friends and family to enjoy a delicious meal and help raise money for our school. A portion of the sales will go directly to the Scott PTO, which provides resources and supports that go to our students and staff. Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy delicious food while making a difference in our school community!

Who's ready for our first ever Penny War?! We are so excited to engage students in this new tradition while raising funds to care for our teachers and our school!

February 1st - March 10th - Fill out and SHARE our application for NEW Kindergarten students! Openings are available for the 2023-2024 school year at Scott Dual Language Magnet School (Kindergarten). Families will be notified of approval and placement the week of April 2.

Incoming PreK students - Fill out our interest form now and Pre K application once it opens in April.

Other grades - Fill out our interest form.

• Doors open and breakfast begins at 8:20 a.m.

• Instruction begins at 8:40 a.m.

• Late Start will be on Fridays

• Doors open at 9:10am

• Instruction begins at 9:30 a.m.

• PreK: Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m.

• K-5: Dismissal is at 3:40 p.m.

• Don't forget to check your student’s backpack daily!

• If you know that your child is going to be absent, please call the school at 785-235-7480.

• If you need to pick your child up early, please be advised that we will call them down to the office once you arrive at the school.

• If you need to change the way your child goes home, please call the office by 1:00 for us to have time to communicate those

• Grade-Level Spirit Contest - Each grade level will come up with a "top secret super creative" spirit day for our Spirit Day Competition! Grades are still deciding what their spirit days will be at this time and will reach out soon! The winning grade will win a popcorn party!
