Cooperation vs Collaboration: When To Use Each Approach
First Word/Last Word
This is a strategy used at the beginning of a lesson or unit and again at the end. The strategy will show a student's growth over the course of the lesson or unit. Start by giving students a word that they will use to create an acrostic poem. Keep these papers. At the end of the lesson or unit, have them create an acrostic poem again using the same word. Compare the two poems to see how the students have grown in their learning.
3-2-1 Summary
This is a strategy that can be used to do a quick review, as an exit ticket or anytime along the way during the lesson. Have students write:

- 2 words to sum up your learning
- 1 question they still have
