Students had the opportunity to wear pajamas to school. Our students were visited by local author, Edward Vidaurre. Mr. Vidaurre encouraged students to read and write whatever their heart desired. As a young man, he didn't read well and didn't have a love for reading. As he grew older, he realized the importance of reading and decided to express his feelings through poetry. Thank you Edward Vidaurre for speaking to ECA students!

ECA will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair the week of October 26th-November 2nd. Books will be available at the conference room. Students will be able to visit during their library time, before school at 7:30 am, or after school until 3:45 pm.

Report cards went out on Wednesday, October 24th! Report Cards are intended to serve as one of several means by which a teacher documents the academic progress of a student. It is not intended to say everything about a student but it is an important index of performance. We encourage you to communicate with your child’s teacher on a regular basis at convenient times or through scheduled appointments. Please sign the report card and return to your child's teacher.

We will be hosting our Red Ribbon Week events the week of October 29th-November 2nd.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 29TH - Say Yes to Healthy Heart & Body

• Wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week
• Students will have a morning rally to kick-off the week

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30TH - Living Drug-Free is no Sweat

• Wear workout clothes such as warm-ups/sweat suits/sweatshirts (shorts must be knee length)
  

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31ST - Character Day

• Dress as a character in a book that demonstrates character
  
• Students will have a Fall Dance for $1 admission in the afternoon

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST - Educate Yourself About Drugs

• Wear your favorite college t-shirt
  

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND - Dress for Success

• Come to school dressed for success and the awards ceremony
  

ECA PTO will be having a school-wide BBQ plate fundraiser on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 11:30am-1:30pm. All money will be for student field trips. More information on ticket sales, donation and volunteering and will be forthcoming. Please be on the lookout for this!

Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, avoid dangerous behavior and have a better chance of graduating from high school.

When kids are absent for an average of just two days of school per month—even when the absences are excused– it can have a negative impact. These absences can affect kids as early as Kindergarten.
