YogaMouth Studio Partnership
Battle Grove Elementary Wellness Studio Mission
Yoga Mouth is a social justice organization that breaks barriers to access evidence informed mindful wellness, fitness and public health education.
This free program for students and staff will allow everyone in your community access to fitness and wellness education often associated with privilege and gender or racial stereotypes. Our instructors are trauma informed and clinically trained professionals in mind body therapy and fitness. This modern community based studio model offers the same potential of a premium wellness facility without the pretense and exclusivity.
The Wellness Studio Model
6 week modules of themed wellness sessions will be presented every quarter
6 week modules allow for noticeable growth in the participants and enough time between sessions for participants to recover, avoid burnout, and allow Yoga Mouth and Battle Grove Elementary to market and build for the next sessions with respect for busy family lives and schedules
Modules include evidence informed tools and materials for students to develop emotional and physical wellbeing
Modules build on concepts quarter to quarter, but allow for enough diversity of programming to attract different types of audiences and give a variety of experiences to explore
Quarter 1 engages the entire community in a fun and accessible group introduction to mindful wellness and self defense. It serves to build a basic level of fitness for all participants to continue into other modules.
Quarter 2 and 3 provide introductions to mindfulness and self defense in both holistic and sport based concepts.
Quarter 4 brings the community back together in one weekly group class that encompasses the mission of accessible and fun mindful movement for everyone

Quarter 1 Ultimate Crabby Patty Recipients
ββThe students featured below have never been LATE, ABSENT, or DISMISSED EARLYββ
the entire first quarter of the school year. Way to go! We are so proud of you!
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about schoolβand themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college.
Did you know? π
- Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month in a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
- Students can still fall behind if they miss just 1 or 2 days every few weeks.
- Being late to school may lead to poor attendance
Strategies for Success π
- Monitor your childβs attendance and contact the teacher to address any concerns.
- Post the school calendar on your refrigerator.
- Develop backup plans for getting to school if something comes up.
- Call on a family member, a neighbor or another parent to support you and your student.
- Ask for help when you need it. School staff, after-school program providers, and other parents or community agencies are available to help families and address other experiences that make it difficult to attend and participate.
- Schedule medical appointments and extended trips when school isn't in session.

Volunteers: Gift of our Community!
Baltimore County Public Schools encourages and welcomes school volunteers. The academic achievement and educational experiences of all students are enhanced by a community invested in their learning. We invite parents, families, and community members to engage in volunteer activities in our schools from Kindergarten to high school and become partners in teaching and learning. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles, based on each school's needs.
Visit the BCPS Volunteer website to complete the application and training. If you have any questions, please contact our CARE Liaison, Chrissy Forsythe at 443-809-7500 or cforsythe2@bcps.org

A Message from our School Counselor, Mrs. Westdorp
During the month of December our school counseling lessons will center on Personal Safety. We will learn that our caregivers must keep us safe and healthy. We will learn that if someone does not follow the caregiver rules, we can say no, go to a safe place, and can tell a trusted adult right away. We will work together to make a list of people inside and outside of school who we can tell. We will also talk about what a safe and trusted adult looks like and who we can turn to if we or someone we know needs help.
It is our hope that the core curriculum counseling lessons will help to promote the social emotional, academic, and career development of our students. We hope that you can help your child reflect on these lessons by discussing their content together.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the program. I can be reached via phone at 443.809.5745 or via email at kwestdorp@bcps.org
