Everyday Heroes - September 11
"So often when people think of what a hero is, they think of characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, or even Superman. But a hero doesn’t have to be one of the many characters that we see in movies or in cartoons.
An Everyday Hero is someone who makes a difference in the life of a person.
An Everyday Hero is someone who can be counted on and who is respected.
An Everyday Hero is someone who is trustworthy and responsible.
An Everyday Hero is there for you when you need help.
Everyday Heroes make a difference because they care.
On September 11, 2001, we as a nation discovered many Everyday Heroes and because of this tomorrow is known as Patriot Day. Tomorrow is a day to remember all of those hereos, as well as the Everyday Heroes that make a difference in our lives. Let us have a moment of silence, where each of us thinks of an Everyday Hero that has helped us.
Now please stand as we sing the National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, in honor of those Everyday Heroes.
Remember, anyone can do something to fill another person’s bucket and as a result, anyone can be an Everyday Hero… that means you too have the power to be an everyday hero. See being an everyday hero is as simple as being the best bucketfiller you can be and making the choice to do something that can help others and make the world a better place. So in honor of all the heroes that helped others on September 11th, 2001, make the choice to do something for others day… make yourself proud!"

Birthdays in School
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support as we strive to ensure that our students enjoy their special day, while maintaining the overall safety and well being of our school community.
SCHOOL CELEBRATION PROCEDURES
Roxbury’s elementary schools will continue to have FOOD-FREE birthday celebrations and seasonal classroom parties. Thank you for your cooperation. For all birthdays, summer birthdays included, students will have an opportunity to select a book to keep from our Birthday Book Collection. Students are not permitted to distribute goody bags.
Party invitations are not permitted to be handed out at school. Families who choose to participate in the PTA will have access to a PTA sponsored site, where families can opt to have their contact information listed and used for communication related to outside school events (i.e. birthday parties, seasonal parties, playdates, etc).
Nurse's Notes
We are asking everyone to do their part in helping to keep our school community healthy. As a result, if your child has a fever, (productive) cough, or runny nose, please keep them home until they feel better. Please do not provide your child with fever reducing medication in hopes that they can make it through the day.
- Clean, extra masks in your child's backpack.
- A Water bottle and snack.
- Your child wear appropriate (closed back and rubber soled) shoes so that they can safely enjoy Physical Education class and recess.
