Acting together, promoting awareness and suicide prevention
Roosevelt Theatre to present special production of Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, "Death of A Salesman."
A beloved classic about life, family, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Willy Loman’s career has abruptly ended. In the final 48 hours of his life: laughter and joy, friendships and family, facts and myths intermingle as Willy tries to account for the optimism of his youth with his present reality, all the while clinging to hope for the promise and success of his two sons, Biff and Happy.
Arthur Miller’s classic play explores what it means to be successful, to be liked, to be loved, to live within a family, and the chasing of the American Dream. Assistant Directed by Geneva Klein (TRHS Senior), Stage Managed by Jane Romp (TRHS Senior), Assistant Stage Managed by Emma Steffes (TRHS Senior).
This production is unique, as it puts TRHS students acting on-stage alongside three of Roosevelt’s Performing Arts teachers (Rose Dino, Devon Steve, and Micheal Davenport) and two critically-acclaimed actors from the community (Lorenzo Sandoval, Debra Garner).
This production will create a memorable theatrical experience, unlike any high school, community theatre, or professionally produced stage show one is likely to see in the Midwest. A special talk-back panel will occur immediately after the Thursday 9/6 and Sunday 9/9 performances with representatives from the Greater Des Moines Chapter of NAMI and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Iowa Chapter.
