2024-25 Kindergarten Registration

At that time, families can register their incoming kindergartener by completing the steps on the District 47 website at www.d47.org/kindergarten. Early registration helps with adequate staffing, placement in your home school preference and appropriate class size. See below for additional information.
A child must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 to be eligible for kindergarten. Information about early entrance to kindergarten is posted on the D47 website.
Families interested in District 47’s Dual Language program for their incoming kindergartener must attend an informational meeting in February and March if they do not already have a sibling enrolled in the program. For meeting dates and information about the program, visit the D47 website at www.d47.org/duallanguage.
Current Glacier Ridge PreK students eligible for kindergarten will complete the same kindergarten registration process noted above.

New Canterbury After School Program
The district is implementing a new grant funded after-school program at Canterbury Elementary. The program focuses on early intervention for 1st and 2nd grade students selected for the program based on various assessments. Early intervention is key to maximizing learning potential, improving social well-being, and preventing long-term challenges.
Canterbury students are selected for the program by administration and will receive further communication. The decision to place the program at Canterbury was based on assessment data over several years. After the implementation is completed in one location and data is collected, District 47 will assess the potential for extending the program to include students in other schools within the district.
Winter 2024 Student Assessments
For the 2023-2024 school year, FastBridge testing will occur for all K-8 students during the window of Jan. 16 - Jan. 29. In addition, all K-5 students will have the SAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) assessment completed for them by their teacher. This will also take place Jan. 16 - Jan. 29. Click here for more information.
Out of Town Transportation
All students are expected to ride on district transportation to and from out-of-town events unless other arrangements have been made by the student's parent/guardian and shared prior to the event with D47 staff. If the parent of a student wants to transport their child directly home from the event, they must be present at the event and sign their child out on the sheet next to their child’s name. If a student is to be driven home by a different parent attending the event, the student needs to have a note or email from their parent to provide to the staff member overseeing the event to attach to the attendance sheet. D47 staff will not release students to third-party transportation services (i.e. taxis, Lyft, Uber, etc.).
