St Teresa's School Newsletter
Friday 1st December
Kia ora,
As we step into the season of Advent, it’s a time for reflection and anticipation. We invite you to embrace the spirit of hope and renewal that defines this special time of year. May the blessings of Advent bring peace and joy to your homes and hearts.
A big congratulations to six of our students who recently completed their First Holy Communion. It's a significant milestone in their spiritual journey, and we’re immensely proud of their commitment and dedication.
Today marked our fabulous Crazy Colour Day, and what a vibrant, joy-filled day it was! The enthusiasm and participation from our students, staff, and everyone involved made it a tremendous success. A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to this event through their fundraising efforts. We made a huge $2,780.00! Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, we're eagerly anticipating our upcoming transition days. These days are crucial for our students as they familiarise themselves with their 2024 class, making connections with their new teachers and classmates. It’s an exciting time as we pave the way for a smooth transition into the next academic year.
Make sure to check the calendar for the busy last two weeks of term. There are numerous events and activities lined up, including our highly anticipated Nativity Play and Mass. After Mass, we will be hosting a special morning tea to express our gratitude to all the caregivers and community members who have graciously donated their time throughout the year. Whether it was lending a hand on trips, supporting our fundraisers, or helping out during our working bees, your involvement has been truly invaluable.
We hope you can join us in celebrating these moments of joy and gratitude as we wrap up the year together.
Kia tau te rangimārie o te Atua ki a tātou katoa. May God’s peace be with us all.
Lindsey Dailly,
Tumuaki

Welcome Maggie!
A warm welcome to Maggie who joined Waiorongomai class! Maggie is Emily-Jane's teina (younger sister) who started earlier this term. We hope that St. Teresa's becomes a place where you find joy, happiness, inspiration, and a sense of belonging.
My First Holy Communion
On Sunday I had my First Holy Communion at St Teresa's Church. I wore Mrs Sankey's daughter's dress, Bridgette's dress! We had to stay in the morning tea room before church. After a few minutes we went to stand at the front of the door. Before we went into church, Mrs Dailly told us to find our families as we walked in. We found our families and sat with them.
Then, Father Bruce welcomed us for our First Communion. After a few minutes we got to receive the Eucharist or host. At the end, Mrs Dailly gave out certificates to all the holy communion people.
When mass ended and we all met in the morning tea room for some yummy food. Mrs Dailly gave all the communion people a lovely present. I got a card and a little prayer bear. The bear had a pouch and a card in it with a little prayer.
I enjoyed making my First Holy Communion with my friends.

Wairarapa Catholic Schools' Day
Last week, students from St. Teresa's, St. Mary's, St. Patrick's, and Chanel joined together for Wairarapa Catholic Schools' Day. Archbishop Paul Martin and Fr. Bruce presided over the Mass held at Chanel College. This was followed by engaging games led by the Chanel team. It was a beautiful sunny day, providing a great opportunity for everyone to connect.
New Bucks Road Bus Route
As we have a number of whānau who live near Bucks Road and Underhill Road we applied to extend the school bus route. We are happy to report that MoE have approved the extension and the new route will be introduced in the 2024 school year. Once I have received the location and times of pick up and drop off from GO Bus I will inform families directly.
Year 4 and 5 Fun Day
This week our wonderful Year 4 and 5 students had a fun day out! Our day started with a visit to Go Zone. We had so much fun exploring, sliding and jumping. After some lunch we stopped by Carrington Park for a play and ended our day with a lolly scramble. A huge thank you to our parent helpers, Amanda, Tobin and Michelle.
Year 8 Wellington Day Out
A fantastic day in Wellington for our Year 8s this week! Despite the early start, their enthusiasm was unstoppable. The weather played a bit of hide-and-seek, but it didn't dampen their spirits as they zipped around the wharf on CrocBikes and explored Te Papa. There was lunch and 10 Pin Bowling at Willis Lane and we emerged into a sunlit afternoon. After some energetic play (and a bit of pigeon action), it was back to the train.
Ka pai to our Year 8s for nearly completing their eight years of primary schooling! Special thanks to Ryan for accompanying us on this memorable day.
Road Patrol Pool Party
On Wednesday, we celebrated the people who have helped keep our students safe after school - the Road Patrol Team.
They had a great time at the Road Patrol Pool Party, alongside other Patrollers from schools around the Wairarapa, thanks to the Road Safety Council and sponsors.
And well done to Lachlan for receiving the St Teresa's School Road Patroller of the Year award!

Play Pod
Our students enjoy their creative play with our school Play Pod.
If you have any items to add to our Play Pod bring them along to school. We love pipes, wheels, old car seats, pots and pans, ropes, tubes, tyres or anything that allows us to use our imagination to create and build.
Junior Team
We had a wonderful day on Wednesday having our Year 0, Year 1, and Year 3 students working together. We did collaborative work around creating drinks, advertising why people should buy them, voting on which we would buy and graphing our information. We also had a great time using the play equipment in Waiorongomai. Great creations and the Year 3s loved the dress ups!
Interschool Athletics
On Friday 17 November an amazing group of Year 3-8 students attended the Interschool Athletics. We had 18 students who made it through this year. They had a wonderful day, despite the challenging weather, and represented our school with pride! A huge congratulations to Zaan, Charis, Monty, Jamie, Lockie, Lexi and Ezra who have all made it through to the Regional Athletics in Wellington next week.
