I hope you are having a great summer. LHISD is gearing up for what promises to be a great year. Construction is fast and furious as we head towards the start of school with summer projects wrapping up. LHISD is also keeping a close eye on the state legislature. Several bills that affect schools have been passed with most of the attention on property tax relief.

Our custodian and maintenance staffs have been working hard this summer to make sure all school campuses are clean and ready for the more than 8,500+ students we are expecting this year.

We have also be busy hiring new staff members into the LHISD family and we have a few more spots to fill. We have a few teaching spots available and have a big need for special education aides and crossing guards. If you have an interest to joining the LHISD family click on the links in this newsletter.

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023.
We will conduct all instruction in person.

Registration for the 2023-24 school year is now open. All new students must complete online registration. All returning students will need to verify information including address and emergency contact info within Skyward. Click HERE to register.

School supply lists for each grade level can be found at LHISD School Supply Lists 2023-24. Students in grades 9-12 will receive information regarding school supplies from the teachers during "Meet the Teacher" night or on the first day of school.

• Kinder through First Grades: Classrooms are issued iPads for each student that stay at school.
• Second through Fifth Grades: Classrooms are issued Chromebooks for each student that stay at school.
• Sixth through Eighth Grades: Students will be issued a Chromebook during the first week of school that can be taken home and they are responsible for.
• Ninth Grade: Students will be issued a laptop during the first week of school that can be taken home and they are responsible for.
• 10th - 12th Grades: New students will be issued a laptop during the first week of school that can be taken home and they are responsible for. Returning students will continue to keep their existing district issued laptop.
  

• Parent 101 - Information night for all new families to the campus
• Meet the Teacher - For all grade levels, to learn who your teacher is, look at your room and drop off your supplies.
  
• Parent Orientation Night - Parents will hear more specific information from their child's teacher about the classroom expectations for the school year.
  

Liberty Hill Middle School and Santa Rita Middle School:

• "Schedule Walk" and "Meet the Teacher" is on Monday, Aug. 14, from 4-6:30 p.m.

Liberty Hill High School:

• "Panther Preview" for New to Liberty Hill ninth -12th grade students is on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 6-8 p.m.
• "Panther Prowl" (Walk your schedule and meet your teachers) for all students is on Monday, Aug. 14, from 6:30-8 p.m.
• Schedules: All secondary schedules will be available ONLINE through Skyward on Monday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.

New and returning students must be registered for the 2023-24 school year to receive their schedules/teacher assignments.

• Elementary (PK-5) Friday, Aug. 11 at "Meet the Teacher" events
• Secondary (6-12) Monday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.

Liberty Hill ISD has a new bell schedule for the 2023-2024 school year.

*Breakfast will be made available at all campuses as doors open.

We are currently offering before and after-school child care. Our Panther Care department provides premier services to the students and community of Liberty Hill by offering services at Liberty Hill Elementary, Noble Elementary and Burden Elementary. In addition, a new program has been established to provide enrichment opportunities for the students of LHISD through our Panther Academy courses. Registration is open, CLICK HERE for more info.

After-school child care is offered at Bar W Elementary, Rancho Sienna Elementary, Santa Rita Elementary through a partnership we have with the YMCA of Central Texas. CLICK HERE to learn more about this program.

In an ongoing commitment to protecting student data, Skyward is updating/improving their security features by implementing the use of a complex password. With this security update, there will be an automatic password change for all Skyward users (Family Access/Student Access/District Staff).

Your new complex password must contain the following:

• includes at least one number
• includes at least one character
• includes at least one capital letter
• 8 characters in length

If you are already using a complex password (as defined above), Skyward may let you keep this password. So the prompt you receive may only ask you to enter your current password.

If you are NOT using a complex password, your prompt will require you to enter a new password matching the conditions defined above.

Staff and student member accounts will not be impacted by this update as long as you login using PantherNet.

If you cannot remember your Skyward Family Access account password, please click on the Forgot Login/Password link on the Skyward Login page.

Operation Liberty Hill is offering summer snacks for children throughout the summer. Children ages 3-18 who are eligible to participate in the free and reduced lunch program can receive one bag of healthy snacks per child, each week from May 30-August 15, 2023 during regular food pantry distribution hours:

• Tuesdays from 9 a.m - 4:45 p.m. and
• Thursdays from noon - 5:45 p.m.

Our Panther HOSA team has made us PANTHER PROUD as they represented LHHS at the International Leadership Conference and competition in Dallas! We applaud their hard work as they competed with other talented teams from around the globe!

LHHS Theatre student Gwyneth Fowler earned an "Excellent" at this year's International Thespian Society competition at Indiana University! We are so proud of her dedication and hard work - well done Gwyneth!

Congratulations to our student-athletes on becoming the 2023 Lineman Challenge State Champions at Hardin Simmons University! Way to play PANTHER TOUGH, team!
