Hello STEM Families and Happy New Year! I hope you all are enjoying a happy and healthy Winter Break.

Chester Upland School District has announced that all students will participate in Remote Learning from January 3 through January 7. According to guidance from health experts, we have determined this course of action is necessary to maintain proper staffing levels and protect our community from the spread of Covid-19.

Like many of you, I had been hopeful that remote learning would be a thing of the past. While it has been challenging, we have seen tremendous academic and social growth from our students since they returned in September. However, we have all learned to be flexible over the past two years; and at STEM, we remained ready to implement remote learning if necessary.

Today, I would like to communicate some very important information that will ensure the upcoming days are productive, and disruptions to learning are minimal. Please know that we are not on an extended break from school, daily attendance will be taken, and it is critical that students remain engaged in their classes while we are remote.

Monday, January 3 will be an Asynchronous Day, meaning students need not log into their teachers' Zoom rooms. They do need to check Google Classroom on Monday afternoon for each of their four classes to obtain Zoom links and receive additional important information from their teachers.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 4, all students will follow the schedule below. They will log into their assigned teachers' Zoom rooms at the times indicated. This is the same schedule we followed at STEM during Remote Learning last year, so returning students should be familiar with it.

In order to participate in Remote Learning, students will need their CUSD issued Chrome Book computer and a Wifi connection.

If you are in need of assistance securing Wifi, please email Ms. Memon (mmemon@chesteruplandsd.org) or call the STEM office at 610-447-3650 on Monday morning (January 3).

Students will receive additional information regarding Remote Learning from their teachers through Google Classroom on January 3, including their teacher's Zoom links.

It is vital that students check all four of their teachers' Google Classroom pages during the afternoon of Monday, January 3. Their primary means of receiving information and communicating with teachers will be Google Classroom.

We understand this change is unexpected, and will seriously impact many of our students, families and staff.
