FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Wishing you all a blessed start to the Advent Season! With the 1st Sunday of Advent this weekend, we begin our preparations for the coming of Christmas, and these preparations are in full swing at Father Doyle School! Please see below for a breakdown of all of our upcoming Advent and Christmas events:
- Saturday December 2nd & Sunday, December 3rd - FJVD Drama Club Presents Elf, Jr.!
Join us at 7pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday for a spectacular show that will surely put you in that Christmas spirit! Tickets are available at the door. - Wednesday, December 6th - Annual FJVD Jingle Mingle, 6pm
Join the entire school community for our annual tree lighting, hot cocoa, and Christmas carols! All families are invited to attend, and there is no cost to participate. Bring your singing voices! - Friday, December 8th - School Mass, Feast of the Immaculate Conception
The school community will come together at 1pm on Friday, December 8th to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Families are welcome to attend as we celebrate this wonderful feast that occurs within the season of Advent. - Sunday, December 10th - Annual FPO Francisan Friars vs. FJVD Basketball Game, 4pm
Friars basketball is coming to Father Doyle! No, not the Providence College Friars, the Friars of the Primitive Observance (FPO). Each year, the Friars visit the school during the Advent season, visit our classrooms, and preach a mission at the Parish. They also play a basketball game against our student team(s)! See the flyer below for more information. - Monday, December 11th & Tuesday, December 12th - Student Confessions
As we prepare as a school community for the coming of Christ at Christmas, students in grades 3-8 will have the opportunity to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation, attending confession in the Church during the school day.
- Friday, December 15th - FJVD Annual Christmas Concert, 6:15pm
We're so excited for our Annual Christmas Concert! For those families who may be new to our school community, this is a wonderful family event each year during which each grade level performs one or two Christmas songs for the community. Our students have been working so hard on their performances in music class! Please see the notes below from Ms. Saleem: - For the concert, all students should arrive through the rear entrance of the church (school side) no later than 6:00pm. Similar to last year, students in grades 1-8 will be seated with their class in the pews to the left and right of the altar for the duration of the performance. Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will meet in the Church Hall prior to the concert, enter the Church to perform first, then be dismissed to their families from the altar when finished with their performance.
The dress code for the concert is “nice” clothes and Christmas colors, such as dress pants with a red/green button down shirt. Girls may wear an appropriate skirt or dress that must be at least knee length if they would like. Students are allowed to wear Santa hats or Christmas headbands but no bells or flashing lights please!
We're looking forward to celebrating the Advent season with you and your family, and we look forwar to seeing you at many of our events!
Please keep reading below for additional information regarding Coffee with the Principal and Ice Cream Orders. Thank you!
Coffee with the Principal is Back!
I'm happy to announce the return of Coffee with the Principal! This is an opportunity for parents to stop by, enjoy coffee and light refreshments, and chat about the school year with me. Bring your concerns and ideas!
The first Coffee with the Principal for the year will be Tuesday, December 19th beginning at 7:30am. We will meet in the Learning Center. Coffee and light pastries will be served. Please RSVP here if you are planning to attend so we can ensure we have enough coffee to go around!
Ice Cream Orders - January, February, and March
With cold weather now upon us, there will be no ice cream orders during the months of January, February, and March. Ice cream ordering will return in April when students can once again enjoy it outdoors as a nice treat on a warm day.
Thank you!
As always, be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin
