School Dance
Our Spring Dance is next week from 6:30 - 9:00. A few notes -
- The dance is for students currently enrolled in LVMS.
- Students cannot stay at school until the dance starts.
- I will send out pick up procedures next week, but if a student leaves, they may not re-enter.
- Students can only be picked up in the designated pick up lines - they may not walk to their cars. It's dark and this is for student safety.
Spirit Week
Leading up to the dance we will be having a Spirit Week!
Monday- Each grade level will wear a certain color-
6th grade wear yellow/ gold
7th grade wear white
8th grade wear blue
Tuesday- Twin Day: Match with someone
Wednesday- College Day: Represent your favorite college
Thursday- Anything but a backpack day - kids have been asking me for years if we could do this. I finally broke down and said yes, but ask to please keep it within reason. To answer a few questions - 1) Little brothers are not allowed. 2) Don't bring a wheelbarrow. 3) Motorized carts or BMX bikes are not allowed. 4) Nothing larger than a backpack...and it can't be alive.
Friday- Rare Disease Day: More information will be coming about this day!
Cell Phone Ban?
We talked to the students this week about a piece of legislation that would significantly affect them, and a cellphone ban is being discussed. Here is a news article providing a little more information - https://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/south-texas-el-paso/news/2025/02/18/cell-phone-ban-bill-texas-schools-ellen-troxclair
This is not something LVISD has any control over, but wanted to make people aware of the discussion.

Track is coming up!
Next Wednesday, February 26th is our first track meet in Marble Falls...here's a few tips if it's your first meet -
1) Dress warm, regardless of how warm it is during the day!
2) Track Meets can be very long, depending how many schools are there. According to UIL rules, a track meet cannot start another event after 10 PM. Fingers crossed we don't run that late this year!
3) It's hard to know exactly when your student will run, but the meet will not stop if your student isn't there. Each year, kids miss races because they get distracted with their friends...as much as the coaches talk about it, it happens!
4) Enjoy watching our kids compete...track is hard and kids are just finding their way. Help them enjoy the love of competition, regardless of the outcome.

Strive for 5!
In addition to missed learning opportunities, many parents also may not realize that our school's funding from the State is directly tied to daily attendance. Each day your child is present, the school receives about $37. While $37 might not seem significant on its own, it adds up quickly. Last year, the District's funding was reduced by over $700,000 due to student absences. This loss of funds impacts our ability to hire more teachers, reduce class sizes, and further enhance the learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your help in reducing avoidable absences so that your child — and all of our students — can take full advantage of the excellent instruction we offer every day.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
Please share this with your children - it's just not worth it!
