FOLLETT DESTINY
Destiny Training for Library Staff on Nov. 10th
In the days following the training, we will be adding teacher accounts and configuring the databases into Destiny OneSearch. As soon as that has been worked out, I need a time at your common planning times and team meetings to give passwords with a short tutorial on Destiny.
I will also set up a Google Doc for times available to give students a tutorial on Destiny use, which include eBooks, the website, and subscription databases. Lots of new things, found in one place!
Below you will find a short video explaining and promoting the features Follett Destiny.
iPad Destiny Catalog Look up Stations
As always, we are here to help. We can show you how to access the Destiny catalog and resources from the new iPad stations.
LIBRARY INFORMATION & MEDIA WEBPAGES
The Library Website is LIVE!
Link directly to the High School page with http://sdsmhs.libguides.com/home
The webpages can be accessed on the district website under the School tab / Library Media Center (tab to the left)
The homepages of the website will always feature a New Book Spotlight, What's Happening in the library, and Quicklink list to important websites and databases. Other tabs will take you to more specific places.
Destiny - to the Destiny sign in page for each school
Connections - to any social media sites set up for SDSM Libraries, @sdsmReads
Lessons - where I will link to resources I've shown in lessons for students to access afterwards
Resources - links to databases and recommended resources
Toolkit - for students and teachers containing recommended tech tools that you can use for various purposes
Guides - these are specific webpages to give more information such as Citation, Annotation, Critical Reading, or Subject/Content guides to aid teachers with project resources for students (If you need me to add a page for you, just ask! Very happy to do this and I am currently working on one for Health, look for it as an example soon!)
More resources will continue to be added, but I would suggest visiting the library webpage before any research or searching, the best of the best resources will be there for you. Contact me to give tutorials to your students.
OverDrive eBooks
NEW OverDrive eBooks
We are currently working to integrate OverDrive with our Follett Destiny logins. For now, the login is the student ID #. I think that teacher accts were set up, but doubt that you would remember your barcode numbers. Send me an email if you would like a user passcode to read the eBooks.
Overdrive eBooks can be read straight from the browser on any device -or- by using the Kindle or OverDrive apps.
Once the integration between OverDrive and Destiny goes through, the teacher and student logins will be your network login and password. Stay tuned for that change.
