Communication is Key!
See below for some of the ways we are happy to reach every child and every family in his/her native language.
Talking Points - is a 'teacher app that helps teachers reach all parents and guardians, regardless of language, via text messages or email in 100+ languages. The translation is done by a combination of human translators and machines, allowing for seamless communication with all of your families'. It is very user friendly and allows parents to respond to you in their language, but when it reaches you, it is in English. If you were not aware of this feature and you have a student served in ESOL, please reach out to your child’s ESOL teacher. In most cases the email address is the first initial and last name followed by @paulding.k12.ga.us They look forward to hearing from you!
RTT Mobile Interpretation - an app that gives us access to a live interpreter in more than 180 languages. Your child's ESOL teacher is glad to assist you with setting up any parent conferences or answering any question you may have in your native language. Reach out to your child's ESOL teacher via email and he/she can set this up for you at any time you need translation.
What are some ways I can help my child with assignments even AFTER Spring Break?
Google Translate - 'a free multilingual machine translation service developed by Google, to translate text. It offers a website interface, a mobile app for Android and iOS, and an application programming interface that helps developers build browser extensions and software applications.' This tool has improved with time and can be accessed instantly on your phone or computer. We encourage students and parents to use it.
Microsoft's Immersive Reader- '... is a full-screen reading experience to increase the readability of content. It was designed to support students with dyslexia and dysgraphia in the classroom, but it can help anyone who wants to increase their fluency or needs help decoding more complex texts.' It is available in CANVAS but it may only read Word documents.
