A SUCCESSFUL SEPTEMBER!
September 28, 2023
We are so happy with our students' smooth transition to the first month of the year! We appreciate all members of our staff and their commitment to our students: teachers, paraprofessionals, and members of our food service, transportation, and maintenance staff all play a role in this team effort and are a vital component of our success!
School Messenger
Based on your feedback on the communications survey we sent at the end of last school year, we now will be utilizing SchoolMessenger: software that enables mass texting to those enrolled in the program. Text messages you receive will contain content similar to that in our automated phone calls, including upcoming events, programs, calamity days, and more.
Enrolling Is Easy!
- If your mobile phone number is already on file with the school, you will receive an opt-in text, asking you to reply YES to receive the text messages.
- If your mobile number is NOT on file, simply text YES to 67587 at any time.
- You can sign up for SchoolMessenger on as many devices as you like.
- You can also opt-out of these text messages by texting STOP to 67587.

School Report Card Data
Issued yearly by the Ohio Department of Education, a school’s report card rating is based on the district’s score on six measures of performance criteria.
Report cards are useful to analyze trends for both areas of strength and areas of concern in terms of academic development; however, students are so much more than just statistical data. This data it is only one part of our students' educational experience. We believe in the Whole Child: the knowledge that all students are complex learners who have faced obstacles and challenges throughout their lives. Our commitment to supporting them not only academically but also socially and emotionally is of vital focus for us. I would like to thank all staff, parents, guardians, and our students for their exemplary growth in the innumerable facets of their lives.

Stellar Students
We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of junior Mallory Skvor and senior Michael Gale as they earned commendations from the College Board National Recognition Programs. In addition to their outstanding GPA’s, they scored within the top 10% of students in the State who took the PSAT, and fell within the category of National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA).
Of this distinction, Principal James Kohler states, “I am so proud of Mallory and Michael. I have watched them both grow throughout their time at KHS. Their resumes are very impressive! In addition to their academic success, they are also active members of our school community. Both Mallory and Michael are in our KHS marching band, and Mallory is this year’s Drum Major. Michael is our trombone section leader. Mallory also volunteers her time to help students at KMS. Michael is also involved in cross country, and he has already won first place awards in two races this season!”
Congratulations Mallory and Michael! Your hard work is exemplified in this distinction!
