DAILY ATTENDANCE PROCESS CHANGE
The attendance process in the front office has changed:
-Students will not have to check in with the office until AFTER 9:10am
-There will be no more pink slips.
-When students are tardy and enter through the front office, they will get a green slip after 9:10am.
-If students are tardy from the bus, they will head straight to class (and should not be marked tardy).
-The same process will be in place on late start Mondays, just one hour later.
We are making these changes to get kids in class quicker. Thank you for sharing this information with your child(ren).
-Families, please notify the office if your child(ren) will be missing school or will be in later than 10am.
-Enter in Q (in ParentConnect) or call the attendance line
907-7-742-4800
-Call tardy/absence in before 10:00am This will prevent robo-calls/emails from ASD.
-Please complete a Pre-Approved Absence Request Form if your child will be out for more than a day or two.
-Absences will be excused due to:
-Illness, death or serious illness in the immediate family
-Participating in a school function
-Attendance at religious services
-Extenuating circumstances approved by the principal
Otherwise, when you contact us for an absence for a different reason, we are able to change it to a Unexcused Prearranged Absence (which will not generate a rob-call/email).
Thank you!
Students Who Arrive Early...
Early arrivals are asked to be dropped off at the front door. Students will sign in at the front office and then they are directed to a learning lab where they will be able to read silently, or complete missing classwork. Staff will monitor students until 9:35 when students are released for breakfast or sent to the playground. Please do not drop students to the playground before 9:35 as adult supervision does not begin until then. Walking students are asked to adjust their arrival time to 9:35, if possible.
Pick-Up/Drop-Off Protocol
Reminders for the Drop Off & Pick Up Loop:
- Please only pick students up from the curbside pick up lane. It is extremely dangerous to have students crossing multiple lanes of traffic.
- Please be mindful of your speed as you travel through the pick up lane. Our young running wolves are out and about and we want to be sure they get to their destination safely.
- Students in grades K-3 should not be crossing the crosswalk to the parking lot without an adult. Please accompany your child across the crosswalk when coming to pick them up.
- Thank you for minding the traffic flow of our pick up loop. Please refer to the picture below to review our pick up traffic flow.
- Parents who are crossing should cross at either of the two crosswalks. Please do not cut across the moving traffic.
Choir information
Hello Wolfpack Parents and Guardians,
I am very excited to announce the start of choir season at Rogers Park! We have so many wonderful and excited singers in our school, it’s time to let everyone Hear Our Howl! The Rogers Park choir is split into three groups this year: one for the 1st-2nd graders, one for 3rd-4th graders, and one for the 5th-6th graders. While the 3rd-6th groups are open to any student who signs up, the 1st-2nd grade group will be limited to the first 30 students to submit their permission slip. This group fills quickly, so turn your permission slip in early. I look forward to singing together this year!

From the Library
We’ve had a great start to the year in the library. Mrs. Levine has met with all of the classes, and we’ve had our first check out for the year. Please help your child remember his/her book(s) on library day.
Students come to the library each week for a lesson and an opportunity for check out. Lessons include information about types of books, genres, research skills, website evaluation and more.
Open check out is from 3:00-3:25 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:05-9:30 on Wednesdays. It's going to be a great year in the library.

PTA news
Two weeks in, and we are up to a great start!
Our next scheduled PTA meeting will be on September 14, at 6:00pm in the school’s library and via Zoom. The agenda and link will be sent to members the week of the meeting.
Remember to renew your membership by clicking here.
Two events in, and so many more to go!
It was so good to see and meet many of you during the Ice Cream Social and Coffee, Cookies, and Kleenex. We look forward to seeing you in the next few, including Jog-A-Thon and Movie Night coming in October.
Speaking of Jog-A-Thon (especial shout out to our new Jog-A-Thon coordinators, Katy and Brittany)…
Jog-A-Thon 2023
The money raised by this event will be used for hands-on materials and classroom supplies, grants to every teacher in the school, support for school clubs and after school events, and much more!
All students who turn in a donation will receive a Jog-A-Thon sticker and be entered into a lottery with a chance to win Moose’s Tooth gift cards, a Great Harvest Bread Company gift, Wild Scoops card, or school spirit wear.
The Jog-A-Thon will take place during the school day on Friday, October 6th. Every student will participate by walking or jogging laps for 20 minutes and it will be optional for students to have their laps counted. This is a fun event for both students and parents, so keep an eye out for parent volunteer requests coming soon.
Online donations are preferred although cash or check (made out to Rogers Park PTA) is also accepted. Look for pledge sheets to come home with students soon. Thank you for your support!
