From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Winter MAP testing is all complete! The students did a great job and the teachers are starting to dig into the data to see what adjustments need to be made. We will be sending home Individual student reports next Wednesday in Blue Jay Folders. Our teachers will spend the next two in service days learning about how to use the data to drive instruction in a differentiated classroom.
Don’t forget to spread the word about our upcoming Open House on January 28th. A simple Facebook or Instagram share or a mention to a family with small children about why you choose St. John’s can be so impactful. Our current students and families are our best walking advertisement as to why a new family should consider St. John the Baptist. Remember, any family who refers another family will be placed in a drawing for $500 in credits to the school. This could be used towards tuition, spirit wear, cafeteria, etc. We already have 60+ families signed up to attend, so it is going to be a great day!
Lastly, as we enter into the colder months please make sure to contact the office if you are not receiving One Calls about delays, bus cancellations, and closures. We want to make sure that every family is informed about changes. Our One Calls are sent as soon as we are contacted by NWLSD to allow for our families to arrange transportation. .
I hope you all stay warm this week!
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

Tony's Fight Foundation Basketball Fundraiser
Please see below for a unique fundraiser that was started by one of our previous school families. It is a great time, so please consider registering to help a family in our community...
If I could ask for a couple moments of your time. My name is Beth Even and I am with the Tony’s Fight Foundation. We have hosted a youth 3v3 basketball fundraiser at LaSalle High School for the last 7 years. Player registration is currently open for 3rd-8th grade students and we would love to invite your students to join us on Saturday, March 9th!
This tournament began as a benefit supporting my family in March 2017. In October 2016 my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3ES with Vanishing Bile Duct Syndrome, followed by a Renal Cell Carcinoma diagnoses in February 2017. In March 2017 our friends and family rallied around us, hosting this basketball tournament, to show support and help with the medical expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. With Tony’s test results clear and Tony, myself and our 4 children settled into our new normal... we decided we would like to pay it forward by continuing the tournament. Together with the help from the original tournament committee, we have officially became a 501(c)3 non-profit. Tony’s Fight Foundation was started to help families that have children in area catholic schools with family member fighting a life threatening illness, so they are not faced with the choice of their children’s education or their health.
Register for the event here.
Please see attachment below for more details and to learn about the local family that the foundation will be supporting this year.
