ACT Overview
This workshop will help students gain a broad level understanding including conquering the balance between speed and accuracy on the ACT, removing mental blocks that inhibit performance, gaining familiarity and confidence with the test format, understanding the role the test plays in the college planning process, and moving towards true potential on the ACT.
Begin with the End in Mind
This presentation is targeted specifically to 8th and 9th grade students and is inspired by Sean Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens”. Students will learn about college and how they can best use their time throughout high school to prepare for post high school.
Applications 101
This presentation reviews the admissions and scholarship application processes as well as some things to consider as you continue your college search.
Designing Your Life
This workshop is inspired by the book “Designing Your Life” by Dave Evans and Bill Burnett. It helps students brainstorm and start designing their futures during and after high school.
Financial Aid: 101
This presentation is designed to give students and/or parents an overview of the federal and state aid processes and important deadlines as well as how to start searching for scholarships.
Financial Literacy
This workshop teaches students how to make wise financial decisions to promote financial well-being over their lifetime.
Ready Set Goals
This workshop is designed to help students learn the importance of a growth mindset in relation to setting goals. Students will set a S.M.A.R.T. goal, create an action plan, as well as identify useful resources and their support system
Making Good First Impressions
This workshop gives students hands-on experience in learning how to craft a good first impression.
Scholarship Search
This workshop goes into the different types of scholarships, how to start the search, as well as how to spot scholarship scam red flags.
Time Management
This presentation goes into what time management is and how students can create their own time management system for success in high school and beyond.
Writing about YOU! Scholarship Essay Writing
This workshop provides students with more insight to scholarship processes as well as help students start the brainstorming process in a unique way that will increase chances of being awarded a scholarship.
CAI Summer Programs
ACT Academy
ACT Academy is an annual residential summer program hosted on the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus to help students tackle the ACT and provide more information about college admissions, academics, and campus life. Students will work on developing their ACT test-taking skills as well as learn about the many exciting opportunities at the University of Arkansas while staying in a residence hall and experiencing campus life.
We will host two sessions of ACT Academy in summer 2023:
Session 1: June 6-10
Session 2: July 11-15
Application: The application will open on November 1, 2023 and will close on April 1, 2023. Students will be notified if they are selected to attend mid-April. No late applications will be accepted. When the application is open, you will be able to access the link here or on our website.
Cost: It is free to apply. If selected/invited, students will need to pay a $30 program fee plus the ACT registration fee. More information will be sent to those invited on the fees. Students on free/reduced lunch have the potential to have both fees waived. The cost of the residence hall, meals, and classroom supplies are covered by the College Access Initiative.
Requirements:
Students must be in 10th-12th grade in the 2023-2024 academic year to apply.
Students who are invited and attend ACT Academy must stay on campus in the residence hall and participate in all parts of the entire program.
Jump Start
Jump Start is an annual residential summer program hosted on the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus that helps rising seniors interested in applying to the UA get a jump start on several college-going processes. Students who attend will complete the UA admissions application, start the scholarship search process, network with departments across campus, and more.
We will host one session of Jump Start in summer 2023:
July 26-29
Application: The application will open on November 1, 2023, and will close on April 1, 2023. Students will be notified if they are selected to attend mid-April. No late applications will be accepted. When the application is open, you will be able to access the link here or on our website.
Cost: It is free to apply. If selected/invited, students will need to pay a $40 program fee. Students on free/reduced lunch have the potential to have the program fee waived. The cost of the residence hall, meals, and classroom supplies are covered by the College Access Initiative.
Requirements:
Students must be graduating high school in December 2023 or May 2024 to apply.
Students must have interest in applying to and learning more about the University of Arkansas.
Students must be currently on track to meet the UA’s automatic admission criteria (3.0 GPA)
Students who are invited and attend Jump Start must stay on campus in the residence hall and participate in all parts of the entire program.

Keep Up with Mountainburg Schools
The Mountainburg Board of Education meets once a month unless a special meeting is needed. A study session will be held at 5:15 and the business session will be at 6:00 PM. Meetings are held downstairs in the Mountainburg Administration Building.
