Safer, Smarter Kids Curriculum to start soon
AES Parents,
In 2015, the Oregon legislature passed SB 856, also known as Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law requires the development and adoption of child sexual abuse prevention programs for K-12 students in all Oregon public schools. The curriculum used at Aumsville Elementary to meet SB 856 requirements is called “Safer, Smarter Kids”. This developmentally-appropriate abuse prevention curriculum will arm your child with the necessary skills to help avoid sexual abuse and access help if they are ever victimized.
These lessons will be taught by Mrs. Delamarter for students in grades K-2 and Mr.Nelson for students in grades 3-5. The first lesson will be taught the week of 04/17/23 with lessons concluding after 4-6 consecutive weeks. (# of lessons varies by grade level)
If you would like to opt your student out of these lessons for any reason, please notify their classroom teacher prior to 04/17/23.
Respectfully,
Andrew Nelson, School Counselor
Cindy Delamarter, Child Development Specialist

Please help us keep kids safe and reduce congestion when dropping off and picking up your kids.
- If you need to walk into the school, please park in the parking lot and walk your child in.
- When dropping off your child at the curb, please drop and go. Do not stop and watch your child walk all the way to the door as this backs up traffic. The staff will make sure your child safely gets to where they need to go.
- Please keep the crosswalks clear.
