Each year we welcome the Veterans in our community to join us in celebrating Veterans Day and allow us to honor them and their service to our community. If you have any Veteran's in your family, please consider bringing them to our brunch and all school assembly.
Please fill out this form if you would like to honor a veteran at Anderson's Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 10th. Anderson will be observing Veterans Day on Friday, November 10th. We invite our Veterans to come to Anderson at 8:15 am to enjoy a brunch and school assembly. We need your help! We would love to invite as many veterans as we can. Forms will be accepted until Wednesday, November 8th. Please email a photo of each veteran with the full name of the Veteran included to melissa.majewski@d303.org
Help us build a Wall of Honor at Anderson School
Each year we ask all of our students to fill out a paper about any Veterans they know. Fill out one, fill out twelve! Let's Honor every Veteran we know. (Click the link below to access a black document for your child to fill out )
Students are also asked to reflect on why they appreciate and value their freedom. They can answer that question on the sheet linked below as well.
Paper copies will be given to each student on Wednesday of this week, Nov. 1st , cut I wanted to share these copies as well if you wanted more.
COGAT TESTING FOR for 3rd & 5th GRADERS
Anderson 3rd and 5th grade students will be having CogAT testing starting next week. There will be practice testing on 11/6/23, and testing for both 3rd and 5th grade will be 11/7/23 - 11/9/23.
The Cognitive Abilities Test measures a student’s verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning abilities which can facilitate their learning and problem-solving. Information gathered from CogAT scores may be used to adapt instruction and programs to the needs and abilities of students. It may also provide insight into a student’s readiness for advanced academic programming such as the Academically Talented program.
District Information about CogAT testing is provided in the letter from the district below. Click on the CogAT picture for additional information from the district.
November's PTO meeting is an important one!
The November 7th PTO meeting will include a proposal to amend the Anderson Elementary School PTO Bylaws. The bylaws are being updated to allow for the flexibility to allow remote presentations, as well as hybrid or remote meetings. If you would like to view the bylaws before the meeting, please email ptovp.andersonfoxes@gmail.com

FROM THE SOUTH ELGIN PARK DISTRICT
District 303 is pleased to present its lineup of Parent Education sessions for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Parent Education series (formerly Parent University) includes informational meetings and workshops intended to empower parents and guardians to support their children’s academic, social and emotional needs. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others.
Sessions for this school year will focus on bullying prevention, addressing anxiety, and include film screenings and discussions about the impact of screen time and cultural awareness. The schedule also includes college preparation workshops hosted by our high schools. Sessions were selected based in part on feedback from District 303 parents.
Explore the full lineup of sessions here. Signup forms for each session will be made available closer to the session dates. New this year, you can also register for Parent Education notifications and receive alerts as new information and session recaps become available.
