2022 Arizona Assessments Conference

Assessment Conference and Registration Information


This in-person conference will highlight the deep connections between Standards, Assessment, and Accountability for LEAs as we all work collaboratively to improve outcomes for students. Just as this work goes beyond administering tests, knowing the academic standards, and receiving a letter grade, so will the professional development opportunities throughout this 2 1/2 day conference. Through sessions presented by national and local experts, we will explore the deep connections at the district, school, and classroom level between the academic standards, Arizona's state assessments, such as AASA, AzSCI, ACT, ACT Aspire, AZELLA, and MSAA, and accountability data. Sessions will go beyond updates and test administration tasks and will be designed to strengthen foundations and make connections for participants.

Arizona Reading Fundamentals OnDemand Academy

As you continue planning for the new school year, consider making the Arizona Reading Fundamentals OnDemand Academy a part of your comprehensive professional learning plan.


These courses are best facilitated by a school or organization-level literacy leader. Participation is best completed in a collaborative and job-embedded manner.


Before you register, please watch our OnDemand Academy Introduction Video to learn more. Each knowledge block recommends a companion text. Please browse the Professional Development webpage for all details prior to registering.


Current course dates for the Summer 2022 Quarter are July 1 through September 30.

Be sure to download and save all certificates!

ADE's current Event Management System (EMS) will soon migrate to a new system. In the event that all housed certificates do not migrate, please take a moment to download and save any certificates you have for completed ADE courses.

General Info for our book studies:

  • Virtual book chats take place via Zoom.
  • All participants must register in the ADE EMS system to receive credit - each session is offered individually.
  • All participants who register in EMS, read their chapter(s), and attend the book study will be given 2-hours PD credit.
  • More details, ordering information, etc. can be found on the flyers linked above. Please share with your colleagues!

Preparing for 2022-23 Literacy Plans

To help ensure all contacts are up-to-date, entity administrators need to double-check all school-level and LEA-level MOWR persmissions within ADEConnect. We will start sharing updated MOWR resources, news, timelines, and expectations in late July-early August.

Reminder: ALL schools will submit a literacy plan and BOY universal literacy and dyslexia screener data due October 1st. Portal to open mid-August.

Keep those Dyslexia Training Designee Certificates

Each school Dyslexia Training Designee should be in progress of an approved training by July 1st. For schools who have completed the training, it is the responsibility of each school to keep on file the completion certificate(s) for their designee. Move On When Reading school approvers will upload their school's DTD information and certificate(s) directly into the MOWR portal during the coming year. ADE does not need certificates emailed.

Dyslexia Training Designee Guidance and Approved List

2022-23 K-3 Universal Literacy & Dyslexia Screening

For the 2022-23 school year, all K-3 students must be administrered with an approved Universal Literacy and Dyslexia Screener three times a year. Schools must choose one of the following 9 assessment platforms.

All schools will submit this data to the MOWR team by Oct. 1, Feb. 1, and June 1.

  • mCLASS platform with DIBELS 8th (Amplify)
  • i-Ready Assessment
  • Amira
  • FastBridge
  • iSTEEP
  • aimswebPlus
  • Renaissance - Star AZ Literacy Assessments
  • DIBELS 8th Edition (UofO)

Note: Literacy plans will not be approved for schools which choose to use an alternative assessment, not on this list.

~IN THE WORLD OF DYSLEXIA AND INTERVENTION~

Dyslexia Training Designee Grant

ADE is pleased to announce as of Friday, July 22, 2022, we have allocated more than $1.8 million to Arizona schools to help offset the cost of training for the Dyslexia Training Designee required for each K-3 campus. We are hoping to secure more funding for the FY24 to further support educator training. The grant is first come, first served and carryover is not allowed.

Quarterly Dyslexia Training Designee PLC Meetings

Calling all school-level Dyslexia Training Designees. The ADE ELA team presents Quarterly PLC Meetings for the Dyslexia Training Designee. Please join our quarterly Dyslexia Training Designee PLC, hosted by Maggie Velazquez, Dyslexia and Literacy Intervention Specialist. This is your opportunity to meet with other DTDs in Arizona to collaborate, share, and discuss roles and responsibilities of being your school's DTD. We will build this DTD Professional Learning Community to help support one another in this amazing role, "Dyslexia Training Designee". Please note you do not have to have your DTD trainings completed to attend.


Make sure to register for our Quarterly DTD PLCs here. The first one will be September 20th.
