Arizona Reading Fundamentals OnDemand Academy
These courses are best facilitated by a school or organization-level literacy leader. Participation is best completed in a collaborative and job-embedded manner.
Before you register, please watch our OnDemand Academy Introduction Video to learn more. Each knowledge block recommends a companion text. Please browse the Professional Development webpage for all details prior to registering.

General Info for our book studies:
- Virtual book chats take place via Zoom.
- All participants must register in the ADE EMS system to receive credit - each session is offered individually.
- All participants who register in EMS, read their chapter(s), and attend the book study will be given 2-hours PD credit.

Reminder: ALL schools will submit a literacy plan and BOY universal literacy and dyslexia screener data due October 1st. Portal to open mid-August.

Dyslexia Training Designee Grant
Quarterly Dyslexia Training Designee PLC Meetings
Calling all school-level Dyslexia Training Designees. The ADE ELA team presents Quarterly PLC Meetings for the Dyslexia Training Designee. Please join our quarterly Dyslexia Training Designee PLC, hosted by Maggie Velazquez, Dyslexia and Literacy Intervention Specialist. This is your opportunity to meet with other DTDs in Arizona to collaborate, share, and discuss roles and responsibilities of being your school's DTD. We will build this DTD Professional Learning Community to help support one another in this amazing role, "Dyslexia Training Designee". Please note you do not have to have your DTD trainings completed to attend.
Make sure to register for our Quarterly DTD PLCs here. The first one will be September 20th.

FAFSA Boot Camp
See this flyer for the upcoming FAFSA Bootcamp that will be taking place again, this August, to support anyone who would like to learn more about how to help students/families complete their FAFSA. This is open to all who are interested and could be helpful for educators to know a little more about FAFSA and how they can support their school counselors.

ELA and Social Studies Collaboration
- "Increasing Diversity in Teaching Through Women and the American Story (WAMS)", on September 8, 2022 from 4-6 PM MST.
- "Using Primary Sources to Analyze American Responses to the Holocaust," on September 22, 2022 from 4-6 PM MST. Presented in conjunction with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
News from AETA
The Arizona English Teachers' Association (AETA) offers events and professional learning for all English teachers in Arizona, including monthly webinars, a newsletter, and a journal.
August News:
- 2022 AETA Conference - "I Change Myself, I Change the World: Stories of Hope, Change, & Light" will take place September 24, 2022. AETA Conference registration is open!
- Four Corners Scholarship - The Arizona English Teachers Association (AETA) is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for the Four Corners Scholarship, which is aimed at increasing attendance from all parts of our state. The Four Corners Scholarship is designed to reduce the financial burden of attendance for rural teachers who are not financially supported by their school districts.
- Journal - AETA is calling for journal submissions for their Spring AETA journal. The submission deadline is September 30, 2022.
- Come join the Early Career Special Interest Group for special events and collaboration for all early career English teachers!
