As we move through the year, we invite you to join us for Friday morning Community Meetings, from 7:50-8:10. You'll learn about the things we're working on school wide and take part in special recognition, celebrations and appreciations.

Teacher-parent-student goal setting conferences are coming up the week of October 8th! The conference system will go live on Monday, September 24th at 12:00. You can sign up for conferences online through the Family Link system. Go to the Sunset website and find the Family Link button at the upper right side of the page. Sign in using your email address. If you haven't set up a password yet, have one emailed to you.

Hello Sunset Families,

I am so thrilled to get to be here fulltime and have had the good fortune to already be acquainted with many of you. For those of you who are not sure who I am or what I do I want to take a minute to tell you about my role here at Sunset. The counselor’s role is to support the learning of all students by providing direct instruction and curriculum support of classroom and schoolwide social emotional learning. Social Emotional learning focuses on teaching skills in self awareness, self care, problem solving, and being a caring community member. I present a lesson in every class once a month plus providing weekly curriculum suggestions to teachers.

In addition I work with students in small groups to teach focusing and friendship skills. When students have situations outside of school that affect their academic and social experience I work with teachers to create plans to support their success and sometimes provide group support and occasional individual check-ins.

I am also available to talk to you about social, emotional or behavioral concerns you may have for your student.

I am honored and privileged to be part of such a vibrant learning community. I look forward to continuing to get to know you and your children as the year progresses,

• Friday, September 21st begins our Fill the Jar Fundraiser. Please help us reach our goal and donate. Check, cash, coins-are all welcome, donate and watch the jars fill in the office! Our goal is to raise $4000. Money earned will go towards art expansion and improving our garden. Thank you for supporting Suns

West Linn Alliance for Inclusive Community will host a parent workshop on School Equity Teams on Monday, Sept. 24 from 6-7 p.m. at the West Linn Public Library.

The West Linn Alliance for Inclusive Community (WLAIC) will explore West Linn-Wilsonville School Equity Teams and their role in eliminating student barriers that are a result of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, physical or mental disability, income level, and other factors.
