What will you find in this section?
Want to help your 16-24 year-old students to find meaningful employment?
Consider having them visit the Connect2Careers website hosted by the San Diego Workforce Partnership. This service "aligns the career aspirations of young adults with businesses that are committed to developing our emerging workforce" (SDWFP).
ConnectED interdisciplinary units / projects serve as great resources & models!
Planning Interdisciplinary Units / Projects can be really tough, but the rewards for our students' engagement and learning make it all worth it. Sometimes, it's nice to have a model to look at or to even use or build from as we work to advance our interdisciplinary curriculum design skills. Here is a model unit and link to other ConnectED resources for creating interdisplinary units (including more examples):
- Catch the Fever, and Interdisciplinary Unit on Communicable Diseases
- ConnectED Resources for creating interdisciplinary units.
Looking for Some Funding?
Currently CCTE has numerous funding sources that you may qualify for, but knowing who to ask and what to ask for can be confusing. Lance Larson from CCTE created this great funding reference sheet to help guide you in determining if CCTE might be able to support you and your work.

Featured Story
SDUSD Linked Learning Institute 2016!
This past summer while most teachers were traveling, laying on the beach or just taking a break from the rigors of teaching, more than 50 teachers met for two weeks at Serra High School at the Linked Learning Summer Institute. These talented, passionate teachers came together to create new ways for students to learn and to strengthen their smaller learning communities.
The smaller learning communities were:
Clairemont Academy of Engineering
Clairemont Academy of Health
Clairemont Academy of Information Technology
Crawford Academy of Law
Hoover Academy of Information Technology
Kearny Digital Media Design
Kearny School of Science Connections and Technology
What did they do? A lot.
They worked together assessing the progress they have made towards the Linked Learning criteria with the OPTIC tool in the Connect Ed Studios website.
Teachers fine tuned or developed their curriculum maps, both for their courses and grade level.
Teachers went on a job shadow the second day. They visited places like Baker Solar, FBI, AMR Ambulance, Rady Children’s, Port of San Diego, and more! The purpose of the job shadow was to relate the skills needed in the jobs of today to the skills taught in the projects they designed.
All of the teams were required to develop a complete, integrated project based learning unit for their students. These projects will be shared at the CCTE Showcase on May 24.
Along the way the teachers had fun. Thanks to Liz Perry and Omar Garcia for guiding these teachers along the way. We also had great support from Junior Achievement and Workforce Partnership, especially to make the job shadows happen.
