Marching Band performs well at first competition, heading to Brandon this Saturday
Last weekend the Davison High School Marching Band travelled to DeWitt High School for its first of two competitions this year. The band scored a 91.5 overall, the first time the band has scored over a 90 since 2018.
"In addition to having a great performance, they also represented the school with class," said Instrumental Music Director Caleb Goncz. "They looked organized moving from area to area, they applauded other bands, and they were overall very professional. I'm sure it was noticed by other schools and other bands as well as by our own families."
The next competition is this Saturday at Brandon High School. Davison is scheduled to take the field at 2:30 p.m.
DAE student artists tour Flint Institute of Arts
Approximately 20 emerging artists from Davison Alternative Education participated in the "Issues and Ideas" gallery and studio program at the Flint Institute of Arts this week. The guided tour focused on different ways artists documented, criticized or celebrated war and other social issues. The students then headed to the studio where they were given supplies to create their own artwork that voiced their perspective on some type of social issue in which they felt a personal connection. The students were accompanied by DAE Art Teacher Mrs. Shawn Lewis, Student Academic Advisor and Family Liaison Mrs. Jennifer Gekeler and Student Mentor Mr. Stephen Maule.

Hill Safety Patrol shows leadership with job duties
Safety Patrol is an important leadership role for our fourth grade students at Hill Elementary. In order to be selected as a member of safety patrol, students must be a model of Cardinal Code behavior. They need to keep up on their school work, have good attendance, lead by example, maintain a positive attitude, show respect to others, and follow directions the first time.
Congratulations to Hill Elementary Team 1 of students who serve as safety patrol for the first marking period: Grant Jones, Isabelle Wickham, Adalynne Newton, Alisha Baron, Raegen Klokeid, Izabella Garcia, Isla Hayes, Talulah Bisset, Connor Wilson, Ella DuPrey, Alli Pattee, Aria Robinson-Harris and Talon Reed.
