Principal's Message
A *SAFE* drop off is the best start to the day! Everyone's cooperation is necessary to ensure we don't have a traffic or pedestrian accident. Share the reminders below with anyone who visits our parking lot with your children!
- In the front drop-off lane, drivers pull forward as far as possible and REMAIN IN YOUR CAR. Students should unload when their car is against the yellow curb.
- When you pull forward as far as possible and remain in your car, it helps to alleviate the traffic back up on Vanderslice
- Pedestrians use the crosswalk & observe the directions of staff on duty.
- If you would like to support your child when exiting the car, please park in a visitors parking space to do so. The drop off lane is NOT the lane to stop and exit your car.
If your child tends to need extra support/time when exiting the car, please feel free to use our middle drop off lane (usually designated fro TK/K). Staff members will assist students in safely crossing to the school entrance.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our Murwood PTA for our Fun Run turned Dance-a-Thon. We are so grateful that our team was able to pivot quickly due to the rainy weather. Students had a wonderful time dancing to the Baby Shark, Foot Loose, and more! We are so grateful for the many donations made to our PTA. It's not too late to donate, Click here if you missed out on donating and would still like to contribute.
There is so much amazing work going on in our district. Please see the WCSD Connection-Winter Edition, which is jam packed with great information for our community.
Remember, there is no school on Friday, November 11th in honor of Veteran's Day.

Notes From The Office
First Grade Health Exams
Reminder to all 1st grade parents that Health Exam reports are now due. As required by the State of California, each student entering first grade must provide to the school a certificate documenting that the student has received a health examination within 90 days of the start of school. If a health examination was recently obtained for your child, please email me the completed and signed report. Children who received a health screening examination at any time 18 months prior to first grade fulfills the exam requirement. Here is the link to the form.
Candy Donations
Candy donations for Blue Star Moms are being accepted in the office until November 15th. If you would like to get rid of that leftover Halloween candy, then please consider donating it to this wonderful organization.
Snacks
Please be sure to pack your student a healthy snack each day for morning recess. It is a long time between breakfast and lunch and kiddos need that extra fuel to get through the morning.
Thank you,
Mrs. Kaye
Office Manager
Community Movie Screening- Till
Please join Equity leaders from around SRVUSD and extended community at a private screening of the new film Till, produced by (and starring) Whoopi Goldberg.
This is not a district-sponsored event, but we are attending together, as a supportive community collective, to process a difficult but important moment in history. We know it is powerful to share opportunities where we grow our capacity, and can challenge each other in real time. We already have over 60 students, staff, spouses, and caregivers signed up. This participation is very telling of not only the passion for justice that exists in our community, but also the willingness of our collective to experience difficult and emotional moments together, in the hopes it will provide strength to those who may need it, and will lead to all of us learning to be better.
Please join us! We still have space for others.
All are welcome- Come introduce yourselves and connect with others where we can safely grapple with complex realities that we must face head-on.

ABOUT THE FILM:
"Director Chinonye Chukwu and the cast of the film about the brutal murder of Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley's quest for justice spoke at the New York Film Festival world premiere about how they worked to capture the true story of the 1955 tragedy and why it's important viewing for audiences today."
"After the screening, Whoopi Goldberg, who both produced and stars in the film that she’s said has taken more than a decade to come to fruition, spoke about the larger social issues that the film reflects and urged audiences to connect what they see to what’s happening now.
“Now you know what institutionalized racism looks like and you can connect it to your own life,” Goldberg told the crowd. “Maybe you’re a gay person. Maybe you’re a woman. Maybe you’re an Asian person. You all understand this hatred because it’s coming closer and closer. What we see on that screen is the culmination of what systematic racism looks like. It goes out in ripples and it touches everybody. And the whole point of all of this is we’ve seen it, we know. We saw George Floyd; we saw Trayvon Martin: children and young men, middle-aged men, men, people. This is your way of saying, I don't like what I see up there and doing something about it.”
