Westland Update for Week of Jan 22

BCC Course Registration- It was originally advertised that BCC counselors would return on Tuesday, January 23rd, to answer any remaining questions but Ms. Fischer and Ms. Harper will assist with questions in their place.

Basketball Games Rescheduled- Last week's games against Pyle MS have been rescheduled to this Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:15. Our girls team plays away. Our boys team plays home. If a student registered for the ticket lottery for last week, there is no need to register again. If a student would like to register, they can until the end of STAR on Tuesday. Jan 23 Ticket Raffle

Westland Course Registration Meeting for Parents of 5th Graders- On Tuesday, January 23rd at 6:30 PM, current 5th grade parents are invited to a meeting about middle school at Westland.

BCC Course Registration Meeting for Parents of 8th Graders- On Wednesday, January 24th, current 8th grade parents are invited to a meeting about high school at BCC and online.

Girls Basketball Game- Our girls' team hosts Silver Creek on Thursday, January 25th. If a student would like to enter the ticket raffle, they must do so by the end of STAR on Thurday. Jan 25 Ticket Raffle

Final Day of MP2- Friday, January 26th is the final day of marking period 2.

Westland Course Requests Due- Friday is the final day to submit course requests for Westland.

Last week there was an online session about understanding Islamaphobia. This week, there is an online session about Remembering the Holocaust.

No School for Students on Jan 29- There is no school for students on January 29 so teachers can complete grades for marking period 2.

Marking Period 3 begins- Tuesday, January 30 is the first day of the new marking period. Ms. Bechtel's and Mr. Obstgarten's students return to PE. Mr. Crane's and Ms. Ferrigno's students begin health education.

Girls Basketball Game- Our girls team hosts Tilden after school on Wednesday, January 31st. Stay tuned for the ticket raffle.

BCC Course Registration Due- Eighth graders must complete the course registration by Wednesday, Janaury 31st.

Black History Month- Thursday marks February and the start of Black History Month.

Wear Red for Heart Disease Awareness- Students and staff are encoruaged to wear red on Friday, February 2nd in recognition of Heart Disease Awareness.
