Nurses Corner:
Fun in the Outdoors Can Improve Your Mental Health
World Mental Health Day is October 2023. In observance of this, the Nurse’s Corner focus this month will be on the benefits of spending time outdoors and exercise for mental health. Both of these have been shown to have positive outcomes such as reducing stress and anger, uplifting the mood, improving attention, and increasing confidence and self-esteem. We have many opportunities to spend time in nature where we live, such as hiking, going to Canyon or Saguaro Lakes, the many parks around the area, biking around Tempe Town Lake, or taking short drives to Sedona or Flagstaff. There are many great activities you can do right here in our own backyard. As we head into Fall Break, here are some fun activities you might want to try to help boost the benefits of exercise and the outdoors.
