8th Grade Trip Reminders
We are collecting final payments for the field trip this week. Please make checks payable to Cinnaminson Middle School.
The students will depart from Cinnaminson Middle School at 9:00 am and arrive back at school at approximately 6:00 pm. The student’s parents are responsible for picking up their children at CMS. Please note that once your ticket is purchased there will be no refunds. If your child cannot attend the trip due to illness or for disciplinary reasons, he/she will be given a ticket at the end of the school year to use at a future date.
Please direct any questions about the 8th Grade Field Trip to Mr. Meile at meilej@cinnaminson.com. We look forward to a rewarding experience for all those students choosing to attend!

CMS Board of Education Achievement Award Winner
Congratulations to Main Office secretary, Mrs. Donna McGuigan, for being named as the CMS Board of Education Achievement Award winner for 2022-2023! Mrs. McGuigan is often the first person parents and visitors will encounter at CMS. She treats every situation she encounters with poise and professionalism. Mrs. McGuigan is usually multitasking to help keep the day operating smoothly, yet she never hesitates to stop what she is doing to help a student, staff member, parent, or administrator in need. CMS is grateful for all that she contributes to our school community!

Seasonal Allergies
Do you have allergies or a cold? Knowing the difference matters because you should treat them differently. Are your eyes, nose and throat itchy? Do you have a stuffy nose, inflamed nasal passages, or a runny nose with clear and thin nasal drip? Have your symptoms lasted more than two weeks? These are signs of seasonal allergies or allergic rhinitis. Seasonal allergies are a result of our body's immune system overreacting to outdoor stimulants such as mold spores and pollen.
Allergies to tree pollen typically occur in March and April. As it gets warmer, the pollen season starts earlier. This year is especially bad because we had such a warm winter. Mild symptoms of seasonal allergies include itchy watery eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion. Severe symptoms include rashes, asthma attacks, congestion, sinus pressure.
When possible, stay indoors and keep your windows closed in the mornings when pollen counts are higher. Air cleaners or purifiers will only remove allergens floating in the air and do nothing for pollen and mold spores on your clothes, shoes, or hair that you bring in from outside. Change your clothes, shower, and wash your hair after being outdoors. You can also help control exposure to allergens inside your home by making sure that your air filters are replaced regularly.
Additionally, non-sedating allergy medications are available and effective for relieving symptoms. These include antihistamines and corticosteroid nasal sprays. Most allergy medications work best if taken daily beginning about 1-2 weeks before your allergy season starts. When the medicine is already in your body, it can work more effectively if you’re exposed to an allergen. Many individuals also find effective relief from nasal washes. In some cases, you may need to talk to your doctor to discuss prescription medications and other treatment options.

Update to NJ Working Papers for Teens
The way teens obtain working papers in New Jersey will be changing on June 1, 2023!
Thanks to a new law, the working papers process will be online and streamlined. Rather than going through local schools, younger workers will simply visit this site and be walked through a few easy steps.

Reminder for After-school Pick-Ups
Cinnaminson Middle School has implemented a change in our procedures for student pick-up for after-school activities and sports. For the safety of our CMS students, please avoid driving through or parking in the back of the building for games or practices. Only school personnel will be permitted to drive their vehicles around the back of the building.
When drivers are picking up their children, we ask our community members to please park in the side parking lot. Once your child is with you, all cars should turn around on the same lot and exit the school grounds from the Forklanding Road exit. Signs will also be posted reminding the public of this policy change. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
