IKE Informed Eagles SY 23-24
Week of January 15 - 19, 2024
Respecting Diversity
As we focus on the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week, we work to focus on respecting diversity. Respecting diversity means accepting that there are differences among people related to age, gender, culture, race, values, social status, and ability. It also means being able to work well people who look, act, or think differently. The 7 Habits encourage and welcome inclusiveness and respect for diversity as well as having integrity to one's own beliefs. Our goal is grow leaders that respect and understand diversity.
WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK?
Monday, Jan. 15 - No School, Dr. ML King Jr. Day
Thursday, Jan. 18 - Junior Guard
Friday, Jan. 19 - Early Release @ 1:30

WELLNESS TIPS FROM NURSE ANNA!
Ask Anna for her January Wellness Tips for Families!
Happy New Year! The cold weather has finally arrived and with it comes the flu and cold season. Flu, Covid and viral colds are making their rounds at IKE and in the community.
Staying healthy during this season can seem daunting, but here are a few things you can do to keep you and your family well. Eat a well balanced diet, stay hydrated, get plenty of rest and exercise, practice good hand hygiene and take a good multivitamin.
If your child does become ill with fever (temp of 99.6 or above), vomit or diarrhea, they must stay home until they are free of these symptoms for at least 24 hours from the last episode and without the use of medication (fever reducing meds etc…).
Remember that students go outside for recess if the feels like temperature is 23 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Extra care is needed, especially in younger children, to be sure that they have the appropriate outerwear every day during extreme weather. Dress warmly with coats, hats, gloves/mittens and scarves. Dressing in layers is best.
Stay warm and safe, Happy Winter!
