A Message From Mrs. Barousse

Happy Friday! This was a fantastic week at Samuel Mickle! The school district celebrated Week of Respect - a week dedicated to highlighting the importance of kindness and how we, as EG Hornets, can work together to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all. It was so nice to see all of our students and staff participating in the spirit days. On Tuesday, our RISE classroom attended a field trip to the Inclusion Coffee Shop in Elmer and Friends Village in Woodstown. A wonderful time was had by all! Thank you to the staff for their hard work in planning this worthwhile field trip for our students. I want to take a moment to thank all of our East Greenwich parents and families for attending Samuel Mickle's Family Book Fair on Tuesday. Thank you to Mrs. Ligameri for planning a successful Book Fair and for continuing to spread her love of reading!

Technology Update:

As of now, all students should have received their Chromebook, charger, and case. If your student loses or damages their device, please reach out to Mr. Valver, Director of Technology, as soon as possible so the Technology Department can work with families on arranging payment for repairs. Chromebook Protection Plan: If purchasing, please make checks out to the Samuel Mickle School or East Greenwich Township School District. If you already purchased the 4-year plan, please fill out the form and make a note "Already purchased the 4-year plan" on it.

The purpose of the Character Dare process is to build habits of character by offering consistent, practical ways to engage in the practice of these sometimes-abstract traits. A weekly (and sometimes daily) exercise and check-in around something like kindness helps bring the character trait to life in our real relationships and provides a system for regular conversation and action.

"RESPECT" character dare choice boards will be due on November 1st.

Eighth Month in the Old Roman Calendar

A Big Month for Space Exploration

October has witnessed several landmark events in space exploration. For instance, the launch of Sputnik, the first artificial satellite, took place on October 4, 1957. Also, the famous Apollo 7 mission was launched on October 11, 1968.
