PLA93 welcomed scholars back from the holiday break with a busy week. November Golden Ticket winners attend their skating party on Wednesday and scholars in grades 2-6 had the chance to "spin the wheel" for their hard work on their assessments.

The weather is getting cold. Please let us know if your child needs a winter coat. We have a limited supply but we are happy to help if we have one in your child's size. Simply send a note to school with your child or reply to this email.

As a reminder, scholars should not be dropped off at the school prior to 7:20am. Our front doors will not open until that time. It is a safety concern to have scholars waiting unattended in the cold. Please make arrangements to avoid this happening.

Information about our severe weather procedures has been included in this week's flyer.

Be sure to check the calendar below for early release dates and days off of school.

Please be aware that as winter approaches we are at risk for severe weather. In the case that school must be delayed or canceled, you can expect the following:

1.) All of the major Indianapolis news stations will be notified to broadcast the cancelation or delay.

2.) You will receive an email and phone call from the school notifying you of the cancelation or delay.

3.) Scholars will be provided with work prior to or after the event to complete for an e-learning day.

This week's community resource is the Family Strengthening Department by Christamore House Family and Community Center.

Christamore House's Family Strengthening Department provides a number of services to support families affected by poverty and at the risk of homelessness. This program provides multiple services, including but not limited to, clothing, emergency food assistance, utility assistance, mental health, and domestic violence services. They also receive Homeless Prevention Rapid Re-Housing Program funds, allowing them to work intensively with clients and landlords, and make short-term housing and utility payments to keep families from becoming homeless. PLA@93 is enrolled in the Box Tops for Education program to raise money for our school! Box tops has done away with the traditional box tops clips, but now they have an app where you can scan your receipt and earn points instantly. Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need - equipment, supplies or experiences the kids love! This is a very easy way to earn money for the school. All you have to do is shop, scan, and earn points!

Here's how it works:

1. Buy Box Tops products and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase.
2. After scanning your receipt, make sure Phalen Leadership Academies School 93 is your selected school in the app.
3. Tap on Give Credit to select your child's classroom. You can scroll down to add a note with your child's name or additional information on who should get credit.
4. The number of Box Tops earned with your receipt will be credited to the classroom you selected.
5. To see where your child's classroom stands on our leaderboard, open the Box Tops app, tap on the school card on the Home screen and check out Fall Leaderboard on the school dashboard.

Want to give credit for a digital or email receipt? Go into the Box Tops app, tap on the My Earnings button at the top of the screen and tap on the transaction you'd like to credit. Scroll past the list of products and tap on Give Credit at the bottom of the screen. Then, select your child's classroom.
