Message from the Principal
Black Bear Families,
We’ve had two major events happen at our school within a week, both due to the hard work and planning of our Tualatin Elementary PTA.
Our first event was the return of our Fall Harvest Dance, which happened last Friday, October 28th. From 5:30-7:30, we opened up our school to all sorts of superheroes, princesses, and creatures of all kinds. It was wonderful to see so many people in our community come to our school and be able to partake of the activities. It was so popular that we literally ran out of pizza and had to get a second round, which we quickly ran out of as well.
Our next event wrapped up our exciting Spirit Week–the ever-popular Fun Run. We were watching the weather very closely this week, and ended up having it on the day we had an “atmospheric river” over us. The weather didn’t daunt our spirits. We successfully hosted the Fun Run in our gym, with cones making a running track on the outside, and a dance movement spot on the inside. The event started off with some staff runners, including the mystery runner–our famous Black Bear mascot making his first running appearance!
Speaking of our Fun Run, you have until Monday to get your donations in to be eligible ! Note that Fun Run donations directly support our PTA, which in turn, supports our school in countless ways.
Kudos to our wonderful PTA for bringing these memory-making events back to our school.
Working with you for our kids,
Jim
Notes from the office
- Our attendance line is 503-431-4770. Please remember to call the attendance line before 8:30 if your child is going to be absent or tardy. (A student is marked tardy if they arrive after 8:00.) If your student is out sick, please inform us of any symptoms your child is experiencing so we can share any exclusion information with you.
- Please take the time to subscribe to Flash Alert, the system that is used to send text messages when there is a school closure or delay. This is especially important to do before Winter weather sets in!
- Please have your students dress for the weather--closed shoes, warm jacket or coat, warm clothing. Students have recess outside rain or shine!

Fun Run Donations
We had a wildly fun and successful Fun Run today, November 4th. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the PTA who uses these funds to pay for our field trips, enrichment funds for classes, all of the Family Nights (Fall Harvest, Winter Holiday, STREAM Night), Art Lit, and so much more! There is still time to donate money or collect your pledges to support our school and win cool prizes - at mybooster.com. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Tualatin Elementary!
All donations should be turned in by the end of the school day on Monday, November 7. If your student has donations but is out sick or out of town, please contact the PTA (tualatinpta@gmail.com) for information on turning donations in.
