This Is How We Lakeview
July 2023 Edition: Volume 4
Latest Updates
It was great to see our students engage with their chosen club session on Club Day. During this time, we had both the Photography Club and Running Club doing separate scavenger hunts throughout the building (one hunt was much faster than the other), Coach James leading students through a film session and pointing out defensive play calling and tactics, students creating diamond art in Craft Club, students planting spider plants in Gardening Club, students learning about cars in Car Club, and much more. In total, students were able to choose from 24 different clubs. Please make sure you check out the pictures from several of our clubs below!
Each quarter, as part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) initiatives in the school, we recognize students through quarterly incentives. Students are able to earn the incentive through their academics, attendance, and behavior throughout the quarter. For Quarter 2, students are working toward earning an invitation to our Dodgeball Tournament on Friday, December 15th. Here is the criteria for earning the incentive/invitation:
- Academics: Be passing all classes (no Fs)
- Attendance: Not have an Attendance Intervention Plan (or be referred for one)
- Behavior: Not have an after-school detention (or anything beyond -- QST, ISS, OSS)
For our 8th grade families, information will be sent out soon regarding the Career Center field trip on Wednesday, November 29th, so please keep an eye out for messages sent home through Infinite Campus and Talking Points.

October Students of the Month
Congratulations to our October Students of the Month!
Each month at Lakeview, teachers nominate the students who are going above and beyond what is expected of them. These students show respect for themselves, others, and learning through Building Positive Relationships, Personal Discipline, and Being Better Today Than Yesterday! Congratulations to our October recipients: Jacob Binder, Jackson Blackstone, Akangcha Chhetri, Nathan Daniel, Kennedy Dawson, Madison Dozer, Malachi Grant, Diego Gutierrez Jr., Inesh Kadariya, Loren Norman, Klara Petreska, Emma Stieg, and Sydney Weaver.
Student Costume Day
In the spirit of Halloween and Trick or Treat, students will be allowed to wear their costumes next Tuesday, October 31st. Costumes must be school appropriate (follow dress code), and students are not allowed to wear face paint or masks.
For further guidance on appropriateness, ask these questions:
1. Is my costume supposed to be funny? Is the humor based on making fun of real people, human traits or cultures?
2. Does my costume represent a culture that is not my own?
3. Does my costume reduce cultural differences to jokes or stereotypes?
4. Does my costume packaging include the words "traditional," "ethnic," "colonial, " "cultural," "authentic," or "tribal"?
5. Does my costume perpetuate stereotypes, misinformation, or historical and cultural inaccuracies?
6. Would I be embarrassed or ashamed if someone from the group I'm portraying saw me wearing this?
If you have any concerns about your student's costume, please feel free to contact the Main Office at 614-830-2200.
October Lakeview Values Winners

Pickerington Education Foundation Tree Auction
On November 4th, the Pickerington Education Foundation will hold its annual fundraising event to provide grants to Pickerington teachers and their buildings. For the event, each school's PTO creates a tree that is part of a silent auction. Lakeview's tree theme this year is "Ohio State Buckeyes." PTO is collecting donations to add to the tree, including gift cards and games. Please visit the link below if you would like to donate.
A big thank you to our families who have already donated!

Recent Feedback
We are happy to hear that our students enjoyed last weekend's Retro Teen Night. It was great to see the students in their "oldies" outfits, and we know they loved listening to some of the hit songs from the 70s and 80s. One family pointed out that the prices for snacks and drinks at the concession area weren't advertised, which was a good catch! We will make sure to include that on future Teen Night flyers.
Another family reached out about Honor Roll recognition for Quarter 1. Students who earned the Honor Roll recognition will be celebrated in next week's newsletter.
