What a busy week!
This week has been jam packed! From KG children embarking on flights to Nairobi to Year 6 architecturally designing their own houses to sell whilst avoiding negative equity!
KS2 get ready for take off!
In KG3, counting is fun!
This week in KG3 we have worked on developing our strength and manipulative skills as well as focusing on counting using various methods using nursery rhymes and games.
Gone are the days of sitting at desks for our youngest children and rote counting and instead through play, rhymes, and songs, learning is fun, interactive, and exciting!
What's the time Mr Wolf?
5 o'clock!
So smart, we can write them too!

Money, money money!
This week the Year 3 students started their new Maths topic on money. They carried out various group tasks:
-Visualizing and recognizing different values of coins.
-A shared experience of counting money.
-Sorting amounts using maths symbols.
-Applying their knowledge of counting in steps of 5’s and 10’s to find totals.
We can use and apply our math's facts to work with any currency if we know and recognise a coin's worth!
It was great to see how many different ways the students came up with given challenges and money problems to solve. There are many ways to find an answer and the children's own methods were all well explained.

YEAR 4 Inquiry into Exploration of Africa
This week in Topic, the Year 4 students inquired into the early exploration of Africa. They worked in pairs to create an informative poster about topics such as pre-exploration Africa, challenges of exploring the continent, ancient explorers, influence of Arabs and Muslims, Portuguese exploration, missionaries and spread of Christianity, and the Mystery of the Source of the Nile. Check out some of our posters!
Year 6 Realtors
This week, the Year 6 historians learned about Tudor homes. In continuation with our Year 6 studies of the Tudor times, the students investigated the materials, style and design of these homes. Using their research and understanding of Tudor houses, the Year 6 students created 3D models and real-estate brochures in an attempt to sell their properties. The lesson concluded with a silent auction and students bidding on their peers’ properties. SOLD!

Super Principled Learners of the Week
A principled person is described as 'someone who acts with INTEGRITY and HONESTY with a strong sense of FAIRNESS, JUSTICE and RESPECT for the DIGNITY of the individual, for groups and for communities'. Let's go full circle...
INTEGRITY means to be honest and have strong moral principles;
HONESTY means to be truthful and sincere;
SINCERETY means to be free from pretence and deceit;
DECEIT means not telling the truth... and to be the opposite of this means being principled!!
In short, a principled person always chooses to 'DO THE RIGHT THING', even when this brings with it difficulties, uneasiness and challenges.

Parent Overviews
Primary Assemblies
We are delighted to have parents as part of our Friday KS1 & KS2 Assemblies again.
This week, Year 1 took us on a Lion hunt in the style of Michael Rosen's 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Their parody was far superior to the original story (sorry Mr Rosen) having invented their own version based on this familiar story as a model text. They showed off their work in Literacy, exploring stories with repeating phrases and pattered language.
Friday 4th March we invite Year 6 parents,
Friday 11th March Year 5 parents,
Friday 18th March Year 4 parents,
Friday 25th March Year 3 parents,
Friday 1st April Year 2 parents,

Next week, we will be celebrating Mother Tongue Week at KISU. This is an opportunity for students to share their mother tongue with their peers and teachers.
In the Primary section, students will have a chance to explore various languages through fun activities, sing-alongs, guest readers from the secondary schools, and we will wrap up the week by hosting a special mother tongue assembly.
On FRIDAY, we will have “DRESS TO EXPRESS YOUR LANGUGE” non uniform day where students can wear outfits that represent their country, flag colors, T-shirts with writing on them in their language etc...
Some activities you can do at home with your child throughout the week are:

We all look forward to a successful Mother Tongue Week!!!
